Do you think Dr. Seuss is more than nonsense words and rhyming? Dr. Seuss wrote children's books, but most of them had an important message that children probably didn’t know were in them. Dr. Seuss is more than nonsense words and rhyming. Children thought Dr. Seuss books were about fictional characters and nonsense; however, when they’re older they will begin to understand the concept and how it relates to the real world.
The Lorax is a book with the characters the Once-ler and the Lorax. The Lorax lives in an area filled with truffula trees. Because the Once-ler determines that the truffula are superior quality for his thneed, the Once-ler chops down the truffula trees. The Once-ler decides that he can’t assemble all of the thneeds by hand, so he builds a factory. The dilemma is that people are destroying nature just so they can build factories and buildings. The Once-ler chops and chops the truffula trees until nothing. The last tree was standing out in the open until it got chopped. If you don’t take care of the environment around you then people are going to be left with polluted air, trees chopped, and there will be no homes for animals. Dr. Seuss is more than nonsense words and rhyming.

Mayzie leaves the egg with Horton; he watches the egg until she comes back. Horton is a faithful elephant and kept his word and sat on the egg. Horton sat on the egg and did Mayzie's job when the job was done Mayzie wanted the egg back. Horton puts plenty of time and work on the egg; therefore, the egg hatches. Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss, is the author of my favorite childhood book, Oh the Places You'll Go along with many other children's poems. Dr. Seuss is easily one of the most well-known children's authors having sold over 100 million books (Kantrowitz). From personification to imagery to rhyming, Seuss knows just what it takes to make a great poem. Dr. Seuss uses literary devices such as rhyme, repetition, onomatopoeia, tone and personification throughout his book, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.
Dr. Seuss is an important figure in the lives of children everywhere. His stories are children’s classics that are fun to read and also tackle some real life issues. Dr. Seuss’s political views are very apparent in his some of his books like The Butter Battle Book, which discusses the issues of the Cold War.
The Lorax has a very pessimistic view on how we humans are using the environment or our needs. Something he said was that cutting down the trees leaves nothing for the environment; meaning that trees are a big part of the environment and if we cut them down it’ll be very unhealthy. Another thing the Lorax had to say is about how unhealthy for the environment it is to cut down the trees for our benefit, and that we care
Dr. Seuss, also known as Theodore Seuss, has written many poems as well as short stories, and is considered one of the greatest children’s author in history. His silly stories are able to excite children in ways that make them want read. His Wife says,” Ted doesn’t sit down to write for children. He writes to amuse himself;” Little do children know that often, in his stories, there is a lot of political undertone, a few examples include The Lorax, Yertle the Turtle, The Sneethces, and The Butter Battle Book. If you were to really critique some of his books or poems, you might see that some of his themes wouldn’t seem to pertain to children.

Quite a while before “green” was the new black; Dr. Seuss wrote a cautionary story about trees. The Lorax, originally published in 1971 by Dr. Seuss, became a classic children’s book. The classic was recently turned into an animated film. In 2012, The Lorax film was made by directors Chris Renaud and Kyle Balda (“The Lorax”). The book and the film have the same basic storyline; however, there are a few differences. The Lorax film is more in depth than the book. The book, The Lorax went through many changes to become a film.

Even though he couldn’t draw very well, he always carried a notebook with him. His book Horton Hatches the Egg was a result of his doodling accidentally overlapping. His drawing of an elephant, later to be named Horton, was lying atop a sketch of a tree. “That’s a hell of situation. An elephant in a tree!”

Her most renowned book Silent Spring opened millions of eyes to effects of the fossil fuels and pesticide contaminations. Theodor Geisel was able to enlist the help of the nation through his war efforts as well as maintain his beliefs in a time of high distress in our nation. As a result, Dr. Seuss came out of WWII as a famous writer who held no bounds when it came to his work and therefore was able to continue to produce and create amazing stories with deep meaning, for his target audience of children. This was done so successfully, that Seuss is still known today for several of his works, adapted into movies but also still read to millions upon millions of children each and every night.

When my parents read to me, they enjoyed reading Dr. Suess books, which became popular with the publication of The Cat In The Hat. I was only interested in looking at books with color. When the books were colorful they grabbed my attention quickly. I couldn’t wait for my parents to come in my room at night and read to me from The Cat in the Hat. I think that this is one of the popular books that parents should read to their children.

Although he is most famous as an author of children’s books, Geisel was also a political cartoonist, advertisement designer, and film director (Kaplan). He used the power of imagination to produce unforgettable children’s books and helped solve the problem of illiteracy among America’s children. By using his experiences in life as a foundation for most of his books, Theodor Geisel created a unique writing style that incorporated various elements and techniques, enabling his books to appeal to people of all ages.
Elwyn Brooks White, or E.B White is best known for his children’s books The Trumpet of the Swan, Stuart Little, and one of his best known books; Charlotte’s Web. E.B was not a children’s writer from the beginning, he wrote pieces such as poems and short stories for Harper’s Magazine. For that magazine, E.B “wrote three children’s books- Stuart Little, Charlotte’s Web, and The Trumpet of the Swan- which became classics” (The New Yorker 375). White has a very different style that he writes with, “White developed his books for children in the manner of Kafka, The books are Kafka with an American twist, they are Kafka with happy endings” (Epstein 380). William Dean Howells had once said, “What American public wanted ‘was a tragedy with a happy ending’” (Epstein 380). “The combination of seriousness and whimsy, or of the minute and the momentuous, is effective, and at times profoundly true. Because human experience is a curious mixture of shifting tones and moods there is a basic honesty in White’s writing: he reveals himself as a man unafraid of surface contradictions or of simple and natural responses” (Sampson 530). White used experiences he had throughout his life and incorporated them into his children’s books. He also uses animals in his books, because “children love living things and have their own fascination with the animal world. Children, they are permitted to love things they do not understand” (Epstein 380).
