The battle of Lexington and Concord was a very important battle. It was the first time both the red coats and american colonials both shot at each other. The colonials were protecting their weapons, from the redcoats who were trying to steal them. This battle was famous for a few things. One is that Paul Revere never said, “the british are coming!” he simply turned on a light in a tower as they couldn’t reveal they knew, and many colonials still considered themselves british so this would of caused great confusion. Another famous part of the battle of Lexington and Concord is the shot heard around the world. This was the first shot of the battle, no one knew who shot it, but both sides were instructed to fire as soon as there was a shot, maybe it was by either side, maybe it wasn’t. The Americans won the battle when they ambushed the British army and shot them one by one. They won that day even though they lost 75 men, 175 British Soldiers died, and were out of the way for the colonists. This battle proved the colonists could stand up for themselves and fight for what they believed in. The americans winning this battle scared the red coats, as they knew this was the stepping stone to winning the war. It set the mood for the war. Best of all the americans kept all their weapons. This battle ended brutally, but amazing for the colonists. In conclusion, the battle of Lexington and Concord was very important. It was the first battle of the war and the stepping stone to success for the colonists. The battle was almost lost by the colonists, but they never stopped believing in this battle or the war.
