Since high school most people would ask me what I was going to college for my ideas have changed over time, although my qualities have stayed the same. When becoming a teacher there are certain qualities you need in order to be successful, these certain qualities include: leadership, organization, and being good with children will help me become a successful teacher.
One main quality includes having leadership. Being a leader means I am focused yet humble while doing the job. Since I was a little girl I have been playing soccer. Soccer is where I learned how to be a good leader, being a good teammate, and being focused to get the ball from one end of the field to the other into the goal. Another example of being focused is last fall I had my son while still going to school. I had to be focused in what I was doing and to stay in my classes. I recently started helping my mother-in-law at her daycare and have learned that if you are not organized it can be real simple to lose something. The same thing happens in teaching, staying neat is always important so everything can be easily found. Teachers also have crafts and activity that they will do during the year. I am very big in crafts and have several projects I have done at the house that I have hung up on my walls. Crafts and organization come in handy in good qualities. A good example of this would be having binders for each child with information about, allergies, phone numbers, and parent’s notes. Organizing with color coded bins and labels with pictures. Another example would be painting with canvas’s using the children’s hands for art ideas, sunflowers for summer and Christmas reindeer for winter. This would also turn into great gifts for the
One of my greatest skills is being able to be compassionate towards others. By placing myself into someone else’s shoes, I find myself being able to better understand where other people are coming from. I am an extremely caring person that will go to great lengths for anyone. I can easily overlook the differences in other people, and this is what helps me get along with almost anyone that I come across. In order to lead people in a positive direction you need to be able to relate to them on a more personal level. It is much easier when people feel comfortable around their leader. I always like to lend a helping hand or even a shoulder to cry on when it is needed. My strengths include integrity, optimism, faith, innovation, and adaptability. As I was growing up education was most the challenges thing to young girls. In my cultural most of the parents believed it was not important that girl go school, but the boys were important. They would tell the girls in a couple years you will get married and will raise your kids as your mother did with you, so you don’t not need education to be a mother and raise family. The first characteristic, a positive attitude, is important because having the ability and enjoyment of working with other people in a team is a useful skill. A sincere liking and respect for other people is a wonderful asset. Being well liked will certainly help in working in teams or any other social situation. Humor and warmth are effective in order to be a good team member. A follower who focuses on positive thoughts by filtering out negative ones is on the trail of leadership. President Dwight D. Eisenhower often said, “No pessimist ever won a battle.” People who have a positive outlook on both life and specific situations tend to achieve their goals more often. The choice and determination to maintain an event-tempered disposition come what may; hence the ability to smile in the face of adversity and make things a little brighter for everyone.
The most important quality that differentiates a leader from other people is the ability to think strategically. Vision is the most important aspect that drives a leader’s strategy. It is all about where you want to be. Other qualities include Decision making, problem solving, time management, self-motivation, emotional intelligence and many more. Once we know the type of leadership, it is easy to find what leadership skills we have and which we need to develop which is explained in the book “Leadership: Theory, application, skill development (5th ed.) by Lussier and Achua.” Also, Keirsey Style Sorter personality type helps to knowing our temperament type, and work on our weakness and to emerge out as a good leader.
One being, making lesson plans. Not just the fact that I need to make lesson plans but to make sure that they are creative and not robotic. Teachers need to put thought in their lesson plans so that they benefit the children in a fun way to learn. For example, in my target age group to teach are second or third graders. They best way for children in that age group to learn is if they are having fun or are at least interested in the subject. Now I know that not all the time fun is the best way to teach, but I feel that applies more to the older children. They will need lesson plans that benefit their knowledge better that involves less games as much. It just really varies on the way your lesson plan should be planned by your age

Anything but Teaching. Becoming a teacher and staying a teacher can be quite the challenge. Most universities don’t adequately prepare students for the challenges they will be faced with every single day. Most students are not informed of the good, the bad, and the ugly before becoming a teacher. Many students are not fully aware of the seriousness and stress that goes hand-in-hand with their profession.
Becoming a teacher has been the ultimate aspiration for myself since the first day I walked into kindergarten. As a very timid student, it was a difficult task transitioning from being with my mother everyday, to being part of a classroom environment full of strangers. However, my kindergarten teacher helped me through this transition smoothly, and adequately. I very quickly learned to love school. Soon after, I knew I would aspire to become a teacher. I would spend countless hours at home with a blackboard, acting as a teacher to my imaginary students throughout my elementary school years.
One quality that would make me a good teacher is, I am good with kids. I believe a teacher needs to be able to care for the children they are teaching. Also, you should be ecstatic about being able to be an influence on their lives. I like working with kids and like to help them understand things they may not know. When I was in Middle School we did a thing called “Study Buddies.” We would go to the classrooms everyday for the last few periods of the day and help kids read and do their homework. I worked with three kids everyday and they were so genuine and appreciative.
Over the years, national, state, and local governments have been looking for ways to increase the academic performance among academically vulnerable students. To boost these students’ academic performance, governments have been implementing many programs to inspire innovative school reforms to K-12 educational systems across the United States. Several studies have shown that schools employing certain practices are linked to higher academic achievement. This paper will demonstrate that teacher competency and the school’s ability to provide an emotionally supportive environment are school characteristics associated with higher student academic success.

Students now are encouraged to actively learn through groups or individual projects. They have learning games, debates, and experiments to help them through the learning process.
