The name from one of their tribal name, chahta was the name of a legendary choctaw leader.the choctaw are original people of american southeast particular mississippi, alabama, louisiana, and florida, most were forced to move to oklahoma in 1800’s along the trail of tears. The Choctaw came up with the game stickball it's one of the oldest field sports came from the choctaw. They were a matriarchal society, meaning they place a important role of women within the tribe and showed gender equality. the males showed in leadership position at least most of them.women were considered for input and advice. Males also joined the wife's family at marriage and status in the tribe was generally earned by workers that benefited the entire tribe. They were mound building people. They build large mounds for communication, ceremonies, festivals, and worship.
