Assignment 5: "Sample Instructions - Draft" How to Prepare the Ultimate Vanilla Cheesecake
There are two parts to this recipe, one for the vanilla wafer crust, and the other for the cheesecake filling. This recipe involves 15 minutes of preparation time and 50 minutes of cook time. Serves: 12 ("Cheesecake Recipe," n.d., para. 1).

1. Have an adult preheat the oven to 325° F.
2. To make the crust, mix the vanilla wafer crumbs, sugar, vanilla extract and butter into a medium bowl until thoroughly blended. Next press the ingredients into the bottom of a 9-inch glass-cooking pan ("Cheesecake Recipe," n.d.).
3. For the filling, mix the sugar, and cream cheese in a large bowl on high speed until it’s well blended. Next, mix the eggs at low speed, adding them 1 at a time until they’re all blended. The only difference is she doubled down on the crust ingredients, making it thicker and chewier. Her recipe always included a pie filling as a topping like cherries, strawberries or blueberries. I decided to use a different graphic as the original McCormick’s graphic lacked that type of toppings. I also included the topping steps to the recipe.
I decided to align the ingredients and steps as a numbered list. I felt that this type of format made everything easier to follow as everything lined up and you could immediately see the order of it all. This would be perfect for a younger audience reading these steps.
While I absolutely adore good cheesecake, I also picked this particular recipe because it requires minimal use of an oven. I felt this was important as this recipe was geared towards a 3rd grade group of scouts. There are many cheesecake recipes that don’t require any oven time to prepare, but in my opinion they aren’t very tasty. If time were an issue, then perhaps one of those would do. But in this case, taste was a key factor in my decision to use this
