Introduction
The report discusses about file sharing website Megaupload.com and its founder Kim Dotcom. Megaupload.com is a site which allows user to simply upload and share any type of documents. The main motive behind this site was to provide free means of file sharing and storage capacity for user. There are mainly three type of users for this site, first uses site for download purpose, second uses site for upload and share and third for the purpose of storing documents. Video converting software developed by Andrus Nomm was used for uploading and sharing of videos without looking into the content. Based on given case study Australian Computer Society (ACS), Association of Computer machinery (ACM) and Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers are three information technology industry selected for further evaluation.

Australian Computer Society (ACS) would evaluate this scenario as unethical as their code of professional conduct ‘The Primacy of the Public Interest’, (ACS, CODE OF ETHICS, n.d.) explains that members should be aware of potential consequences of work, intellectual property must be respected where as in case study Kim, founder of Megaupload.com failed to preserve others property instead allow user to share by violating copyright. Kim seems to be unaware of impact caused by his site to various other corporations. This code of conduct can be combined with ‘Competence’, (ACD CODE OF ETHICS, n.d.) which states that misrepresentation of skills and knowledge is unethical, stakeholders must be respected equally. Website would allow users to upload and share information without classifying whether it falls under copyright or not. Megaupload.com illegally upload films, music without their authorization which also aligns with 1.6 ‘Give proper credit for intellectual property’, (ACM Code of Ethics &Professional Conduct, 1992).
