Career Exploration Reflection

After completing the Focus 2 program I was offered the following summaries. I have a very strong self-assessment, likely because of my age and experience in the work force to date. My career exploration assessment scored in the middle which I think reflects that fact that I have worked in the same industry, doing the same job for the last twenty five years. I have not spent much time investigating new career paths up until last year. Lastly my career planning satisfaction score also come back in the middle indicating that I may be experiencing some problems with my career planning. I think this indication may have been a false reading. My academic strengths are mostly centered in the sciences. Business, engineering, and technology were all strongly mentioned. Areas that are not my strongest include traditional arts, performing arts, and languages/literature, although I excel in my native tongue. I have very little interest in most traditional arts, so this result is not very surprising.
I believe the results of my assessment reinforce the likelihood of success with my current career goal. My personality type …show more content…

This gives me more confidence that my choice is a solid and achievable goal. All of the occupations that showed up in all five assessments are engineering based, but out of the list only the civil engineering field interests me. Even more interesting to me personally was that my former career that I pursued for twenty five years only showed up on three of the assessments. I think on a lot of occasions we tend to choose options that fall in our lap. My former career was offered by a close friend and I doubt I would have ever chose that field on my own.
