Recommended: Defining heroism essay

Over the past few weeks I have been reading The Bourne Supremacy by Robert Ludlum. In this journal I will be predicting, questioning, and visualizing. Since my last journal a few jaw-dropping events have happened in a short amount of time. Jason saved a small group of Chinese and British diplomats from assassination seconds before a bomb would have killed them. Jason was able to save them by posing as agent from the Israeli Mossad, which allowed him to get close enough to realize the assassin’s plan. First, I will be predicting. I predict that Jason will have to continue listening to and working with D’Anjou to try and get Marie back safely. The scene I chose to visualize when Jason is frantically searching for the assassin’s plan, and how he can stop it. Jason darts his eyes from person to person, and from suitcase to suitcase, but he is unable to find anything suspicious. “Bourne’s mind was racing as he roamed through the crowd in the downpour, his eyes darting everywhere” (Ludlum 305). He then decides to look for other ways the assassin would attempt the killing. Jason thinks of any possible way, from a suppressed sniper rifle that would silently shoot someone, to a camera modified to fire a projectile. Jason however quickly rules both out as the first would be too risky to try and escape from, and the second would be very hard to sneak past the security of the event. After the plane lands and the diplomats step off, they turn towards a convoy of limousines meant to take them to their destination. Jason realizes the assassin’s plot with seconds to spare, and rushes towards a senior looking officer. Jason then quickly explains he is the agent from the Mossad that was sent to help with counter-assassin operations. Jason screams at the officer to stop the lead limousine and get everyone out of it, saying that a bomb is one board it. The officer quickly radios the driver, and everyone in the limousine listens, getting out of the blast radius just before the bomb goes off.     In the reading of “Babylon Revisited” by F. Scott Fitzgerald, is the tale of the return of an American expatriate to Paris. The protagonist is named Charlie Wales. We find him in the Ritz bar chatting to the barman about the whereabouts of his past drinking buddies. He also describes Paris as being mostly desolate compared to many years earlier. Charlie describes himself as being soberer for more than a year and he now lives in Prague. He then leaves in a taxi and moves about aimlessly through Paris. Later in time, Charlie goes to his brother-in-law’s house where is five year old daughter Honoria jumps in his arms. As the story progresses, we realize that Charlie Wales returned to Paris to regain custody of his daughter, who presently lives with his sister in law. His sister in law hates him and his blamed for the death of his wife Helen. Helen died few years ago meanwhile Charlie was in a mental institution. Eventually, Charlie wins her trust and makes urgent plans to leave with Honoria. This happiness is short lived after two former party friends of Charlie, show up at the home of his sister in law asking him to come and drink with them. Charlie’s affiliation with this group, causes her to change her mind about letting him take is daughter back. Lastly, he returns to the bar hoping that, in few months he would get another chance to get Honoria. Charlie is determined not to drink and party with his friends, but we are not sure if his improved from the old days. He also shows a bit of nostalgia from his old days. Charlie has many flaws, but at the same time also charismatic and persuasive speaker. Charlie is not a victim, but sympathetic yes.
