On Saturday September 16, 2017, I attended the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra. The symphony has never been an event that I would typically attend on my own. The style of music that is typically played at the symphony orchestra, classical music is not the kind of music I would willing listen to in my free time. This was not the first time I have ever attended the symphony, my mother has taken me before, as well as my school for field trips. It was interesting to experience this on my own, without my mother dragging me along. For one, when my mother dragged me along my mood was preprogrammed to not enjoy or truly take in what was going on in front of me. This time around I noticed something that I had never really noticed before, which is how much music can mean to someone. I understand that music can mean a lot to some individuals, however seeing that spark in someone eyes or in their facial expression is a whole other story. It is a story that is truly incredible to witness. It is difficult to describe what exactly this facial expression looks like because it is different for every person. She was just so in tune to the music, she had that spark going on. You could tell from her facial expressions that she was in a whole world, a world of music. I could not stop watching her perform the whole time she was on stage. Her performance on stage was purely from memory as well. Everyone else in the orchestra was using sheet music, or at least had sheet music to know which song they were performing and for the notes. Ifetayo Ali, did not use a single sheet of music throughout her whole performance, not that I could see at least. Half of the time her eyes were closed because she was so in tune with the music and was listening in for her
