I chose the job of being a Pediatric Nurse, because I love kids and I would like to start off on a lower level dealing with them medically. I chose MUW because they have one of the best nursing programs in the state of Mississippi. Pediatric Nurses are nurses who tend to have all the skills needed for their job, are most likely to be the most successful and long-term workers. They also provide emotional care to the patients and their parents. The skills needed for this job are critical thinking, compassion, stability, patience, and a good personality. Pediatric Nurses have to be able to communicate important information to children and their parents. Being able to relate to and give medical and helpful advice to parents and even children could improve the relationship you have with your patients. They provide health and medical care for children from birth through their late teens. Pediatric nurses provide care to the child while working with the family to address their concerns, fears, problems, and options. They assist pediatricians or work alongside them. These nurses also check the patient over for any signs of illness or other issues to insure that they are as healthy as possible. They are also responsible for administering vaccinations and immunizations, and keeping their patients’ vaccination schedules up to date. To become a pediatric nurse, you have to first have experience as a registered nurse, RN. You must earn a nursing degree and pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses(NCEX-RN). Taking classes like anatomy, physiology, health, and even English. Anatomy and physiology are more like AP advanced classes that count for college credits.
