FBLA has been such a defining point in my high school career and vital part in who I am today and even who I will be in the future. Becoming an officer would allow me to see to that other students that are new to FBLA also experience the same things as I have so that they could not only grow within FBLA but also in life. I hope to, as part of becoming a potential officer, that I can encourage others in FBLA as was done to me by older peers. Hopefully with this, we can have a large increase in membership and activity to improve our chapter. A reason why I would like to become a FBLA officer is my passion for FBLA. Meeting these heroes is what motivated me to apply. These brave warriors offered the ultimate sacrifice for their country. They became the best of the best. They became my role models and my idols. As I held my saber high above their heads, I realized what I wanted to do with my life; I want to be an aid to those in need while being the best I can be. I don’t want to be a hero. I just want to help find justice and peace in this world. I realized that day that the best way to do this would be to join the military. My original plan was to enlist, but I also want to go to college and continue to learn and better myself. Therefore, I made the biggest decision of my life. For years I have aspired to become a part of an elite organization such as the military, and more importantly, the United States Navy. Its reputation for instilling high moral character was encouragement for me to develop into a more mature, responsible, and independent young citizen. There are certain qualities that an officer must possess such as: honor, courage, commitment, and attention to duty, responsiveness to orders, cooperation, loyalty, leadership, integrity, and discipline. My initial reason to enter the Air Force was a great way to pay for college which turned into a call of duty and a service commitment which has actively allowed me to contribute to the Air Force mission. Thus far I have led a joint force search and rescue effort and a multinational exercise to preserve freedom. As an F-15E instructor WSO and combat mission ready WSO I actively contribute to ensure our freedoms are preserved and the attacks of September 11, 2001 will never happen again.

I want to be a JAG Officer because of the variety of work it provides. I have demonstrated interests in criminal law, international law, and national security law. My interest in criminal law started as a child in front of the television and I continued to engage this interest by studying criminal justice and honing my investigatory at the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia. My interests in international and national security law began in college where I studied and wrote about topics such as Just War Theory and terrorism and have continued in law school where I am the Director of Events for my institutions National Security Law Association. A career in law enforcement is a unique opportunity that has intrigued me for the majority of my life. My curiosity likely stems from multiple family members of mine, who either have a career in law enforcement or had one previously. With my family history and my interest in law enforcement, it would appear that selecting an occupation in law enforcement would be a simple task. Yet, I often ponder whether I would prefer to work for a municipal agency such as the San Francisco Police Department, or a federal agency, namely the FBI. I have researched a multitude of factors such as qualifications, requirements, salary, and job description to assist me in determining which profession is the right one for me.
I have asked myself, “Why do I want to be a military officer?” I want to be a military officer so I can be a role model to all Soldiers and civilians. To be an expert in a field of study, so that Soldiers approach me for advice and be a leader to look up to. An officer that knows right from wrong, willing to put the needs of their Soldiers before my own. Lead, mentor, and form young Soldiers to know what it is to be an American Soldier. To keep the traditions of being a military officer as it moves forward in our generation. This is why I want to be an officer in today’s military.
Being bestowed by this honor is a huge thing for me. Being a member would be very amazing as well. It will for sure help my future. I want to go to college with my head held up high. This paper will show four different police departments that are currently hiring or recruiting for police officers. There will be a summary on the research found on the process used to recruit police officers. It will also show their current hiring trends and what hiring practices they have that are successful or not successful. The paper will also go over the different methods departments use to train their new officers and their values.
This goal is important to me because I would be the first police officer in my family and that I would be a woman in a male-dominated field and I want to change how people view of police officers. One person that I can attribute my decision to become a police officer is my public safety teacher from high school. He was a worked for the St Cloud police department for thirty-five years and was the captain before he retired and became a teacher. I would always go to him with questions about being a police officer and what are some of the things they faced and he always answered me honestly and would give me advice from an impartial standpoint, not from someone that was trying to advocate to become a police officer. We would have conversations where sometimes he would be advising me to not become an officer and sometimes he would say to go for it but he always reminded me that to get through being a police officer it was always going to depend on the mindset you have towards the job and the people. You can go into the job thinking everyone is a criminal but you can’t think that everyone is good either. Also he told me that even if you did good people will always hate you which really bothered me since their sole purpose is to protect and serve the people and made me determined to become one because I wanted to be one of the good ones and help to change that idea in the community I would be
My internship at the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Department made me realize that I am searching for a career that has high intrinsic value. This is probably the reason why I am in the military and most likely the reason why I can now envision myself as a police officer, because I want to serve my community and give back. According to Boal (2004), “In Order for police officers to be effective they must have the support of the community. All Involved parties should understand their role and obligations in providing for the safety of the community”. From what I saw this department was doing a good job of community policing and it’s something I would be very passionate about if I was an officer. It would be fulfilling to be a police officer because police officers help people in the community and keep it safe. They also enforce the law. They are the reason why people can live their lives in peace. If there is anyone in the community that citizens can trust it would be the police officers.
Serve and protect as a police officer in the city of Santa Ana has been my career dream goal since I was growing up being influenced by police officers throughout my education. Seeing so many casualties by violence in my community is one of the reasons why I am pursuing this profession, so that I can be able to accommodate the best way I can to reduce the violence. Law Enforcement, what’s the first thing that pops in to your head? Is it the terrible image that is given to law enforcement by society? Do you think about how police officers risk their life every day to defend the rights of others, to keep peace in your town? I know by experience that being an officer is not an easy career of choice and it’s not for everyone. Most of every law enforcement agency has a dreadful work agenda. I also know that not everyone is cut out to be a police officer, you must have the demeanor and the features of an officer to be a successful officer. Also being an officer there is always the possibility of becoming injured.
My plan in life is to become a Police Officer. Not only would that give me the opportunity to help other people but becoming a Police Officer also gives me the opportunity to follow in my Uncles footsteps and do something that I have wanted to do my whole life. I have always wanted to make a difference in the world, and this gives me the chance. Performing justice the right way and making sure that the laws of the government are obeyed is the job that I want to pursue. Being a Police Officer is a challenging job but also very rewarding. There would be a number of skills I would need to learn, not to mention that every day on the job would be a learning experience itself. Every single day that I would go to work, I would potentially be saving someone’s life. Stopping a speeder, arresting a criminal, preventing harmful attempts, they are things that would save someone’s life.
