Holy reality, Batman! When determining the possibility of a real life Batman, one must consider the funds and technology, the resiliency and limitations of the human body as well as the training and skills of the human mind.
Fans are captivated by superheroes, who are always there to fight inequity and save the day. Comic books have villains, but the good always wins in the end and people like the idealism. One hero in particular that culture has been drawn to is Batman. He faced his fears, overcame them, and became the best that he could be. (Routledge) His symbol is one of hope, he is the pinnacle of everything he does and stands for justice. He is a genius, and very diverse in his knowledge. He is a detective, master of disguise, a polyglot, polymath, scientist, has knowledge and skills to operate any vehicle, an insight of many concepts, capable business man, and sharp-witted spy, and a sly escape artist. His abilities are, “a combination martial artist, acrobatic gymnast, police firefighter, NASCAR driver, NFL running back, and all around ultimate athlete.” (Zehr) Another fine-tuned talent is interrogation, his signature technique is to dangle the perpetrator off the side of a tall building. While that is dangerous, he makes it a point to never use lethal force, regardless of the situation. So while thugs may have the upper hand in violence, he is far superior in terms of aptitude. This brings up the ”classic urban vigil ante conundrum: How, in a corrupt society, can you go outside the law to enforce the law- and also maintain social harmony?” (Edelstein). While he is a detective first, some argued that all of his villains are highly specialized and therefore easy to figure out. For example, if a poisonous plant was used it was done by Poison Ivy, or if it was a toy or childish trick the Joker is likely at fault. But if a real Batman were to exist, the crimes he would face would be much more anonymous, aside from criminals who use trademarks to bolster their infamy. Batman gathers a lot of data undercover as Matchers Malone, a criminal. His other disguise is Sir Hemingford Grey, a British noble.
