Balancing Family, Work and School
Today, students have more than school to concentrate on. Students have work and families on top of going to college. This balancing act takes a lot of skills to keep on top of everything. There are a few key factors to keep in mind to continue to achieve the goal of continuing their higher education. The main keys to strive to balance work, school and home life are: time management, a support system, and finding ways to relieve stress.
Whether a student goes to college full or part time, setting a schedule to manage time will make it easier for the students. The student needs to balance the time to study, do homework, work a full or part time job, and family life. Time management allows the student to prioritize and organize the details of their day or week. As an online student that works 40 hours a week and has a family, I find that scheduling certain days for school work is best for me. For me, I have certain days and times that I do household chores like grocery shopping and laundry. By having a schedule, it helps to plan and balance the workload. For some students finding the right balance can be more difficult. Getting others involved like parents or work managers to enable students to work around other tasks. This will help students better manage their schedules. …show more content…

A support system can be parents, spouses, children, or friends. With a support system, the student has someone to help with the household responsibilities and someone there to help the student to strive to achieve their goals. Their support system is the one that helps with the balance of everyday life and cheers the student on. The support can also come from a source like a school or church group. A support system also offers emotional support for the student. For example, my husband and family are my support system. They pick up the slack with the household chores and offer the emotional support I
