Teen Movies are Bullshit The human imagination is a glorious aspect of ourselves that can fill up our minds with such delightful thoughts and images. As interesting and perplexed someone’s imagination can get, it can still be easily influenced by such things like movies and television. I know from personal experience just how much these things really play a part when creating certain fantasies or scenarios in your head. As a child, seeing your basic stereotypical teenage movies for the first time, such as “Mean Girls”, really had a huge impact on the way I shaped my imagination. I winded up creating my whole life from when I became a teenager to my entire high school career up into many different fantasies. It was not until I actually aged and lived such moments myself that I opened my eyes and realized that what you see in the movies or on television is not an accurate forecast of the way your life is going to turn out. I’m not saying I was going to become a complete bitch, but I did feel as though out of every clique, I was supposed to be apart of the popular one. With my popularity would also come lots of friends, and lots of friends meant parties every other weekend. I pictured having a pretty busy schedule. This was the furthest thing to come true. Since I went to a small school, we didn’t really have any cliques, so nobody was actually considered popular, everyone for the most part was cool with everyone, which wasn’t really a bad thing; it was just kind of weird. As for going to cool parties every weekend and having a busy schedule, well that was replaced with reading and watching Netflix. There was an occasional party here and there, and I did hang out with friends; I wasn’t a total loser, but, it wasn’t the high school memories I pictured I would be having.
