Argumentative Essay On Alien Species

In 1984, the "Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence" (SETI), was founded. This was when many started asking the question, "Are we alone in this universe?". However, this was not the first time that the people of Earth have wondered this. On August 21st of 1924, Public Officials promoted all of the American people to keep their radios silent so astronomers could use their extra powerful radios to listen for any potential signals from Mars. They tried this, as Mars is the closest planet to Earth. Sadly, astronomers were let down, as they heard absolutely nothing. Even to this day, astronomers and alien hunters have found no signs of extraterrestrial life, but they still maintain hope. After all, it would be pretty dumb to just search for something less than 100 …show more content…

With this being said, a really important question arises. How in the world would we manage to talk to an alien species if we ever found one? This is a very valid point, as there is no way a species from a different planet will share a language that is present on Earth. Well, assuming that we don't meet this alien species in person, it's expected communication would be an extremely slow process. Even if we happen to discover an alien species in one of our neighboring solar systems, it would take at least four years to send even the simplest message. Without patience, astronomers would get quite frustrated. It is thought by many that mathematics could be our main key to proper communication with an alien species. Thus, the creation of "Astroglossa". Astroglosso is a form of communication over radio signals, which uses pulses to represent numbers if short, and mathematical symbols if they're longer. After the other species learned this form of communication, scientists say the next best thing would be to move to astronomy. We would both obviously have this in common, as the formation of stars don’t vary depending where you
