Imagine being terrified each morning of a gun shooting happening in your neighborhood, school, or even at your own home. The government is figuring out if they should tighten gun control or just leave it alone. Gun control should be tightened because it keeps people from killing other people. The first reason being guns by themselves are nothing but an item, but if a person were to wield it and kill many people, it becomes a killing machine. According to Amanda Marcotte at the Rolling Stone news (2015), “A murderer can often kill one person or two with a knife before being stopped. But to really rack up those mind blowing death counts_ to make that many lives are destroyed and families ruined in the space of five or 10 minutes- you need a gun.” This quote is saying you can use a knife to kill, but guns are more effective in many people. Marcotte also states that, “ The sheer amount of damage a gun can do is reason to limit who can get their hands on one.” (Marcotte, 2015) The government needs to add …show more content…

Does that really make you hero, or are you really the villain? Marcotte also states that,“ Pulling a gun out and shooting back in the chaos of a mass shooting just makes things worse, as was discovered when a would-be hero at the 2011 shooting of Gabby Giffords very nearly shot the wrong man. The actual killer was tackled by an elderly man.” (Marcotte, 2015) There are many disadvantages that could appear. One being it could hurt you or anyone around you.
