Acting VS Lying Acting and Lying have many similarities, that’s why people get confused about the two. In a way, acting is a lot like lying. Both try to deceive a person or people, creating a false tale that they will trust. Even though both Lying and Acting involve a person bending words and stories to convince others of a falsehood, differences can be seen in the methods, motives, and presentation of each act. The basic method that liars and actors both use is fundamentally the same: Use words and body language to convince whoever is listening that what they are seeing and hearing is real. However if we dig deeper into how each is performed we can see major differences. Liars rely solely on their own abilities, and they are confined prop-wise into what they are able to get themselves. They don’t have extra assistance like actors when it comes to weaving their web. Actors and Actresses on the other hand have a wide variety of help available to them. They have sets and make up to help form the illusion, and they have almost any prop they would need available to them. Actors also have the support of their cast and in most cases the audience. The audience wants to be convinced so they are more easily. Liars have but one thing to go upon: trust. …show more content…

Actors form their illusions to entertain. They want the audience to be taken to a new time and place where they can enjoy themselves. Liars, on the other hand, lie for personal gain. They try to gain something, prevent themselves from losing something, or maybe just wish to spare another person’s feelings. Whatever the purpose, instead of trying to entertain and let the audience have fun, liars try to cover the eyes of their “audience” so that they are unable to see the whole
