Do you ever wonder how many animals become stray, how many wild animals have been kept captive for years, or have been abused ? According to “11 Facts About Animal Homelessness” here are approximately 7.6 million companion animals that enter animal shelters nationwide every year,Thankfully there are many activists who fought for animal abandonment and helped stray animals find shelter.

One of the activists is Faye Carey, she is helping re-home dozens of dogs and pets who need a home.Faye created a Facebook page called Animal re-home Waikato,That page got 300 likes and people donated money to the shelter and helped out. she even got a loyal couple who were interested in adopting.She has managed to re-home 60 dogs,she still volunteers …show more content…

She told “I was in the car with my family and I saw a little puppy on the road, she had a hurt leg and a car came by and didn't stop or swerve they just ran over the puppy” Ayna said at first her efforts weren't taken too serious she tried to volunteer at a shelter but she was turned away.

Bianca is another teen activist who has ideas to raise money for animal shelter and to stop animal cruelty or abuse these were some of her ideas. A walk-A-Thon to raise money for the shelter. Engaging in a volunteer day once a month at the shelter. Creating a campaign to help the shelter adopt out their black animals,Which they have been having trouble with and Starting pennies for paws, A fundraiser which each class at her school donates money for shelter.

“If we're destroying our trees and destroying our environment and hurting animals and hurting one another and all that stuff, there's got to be a very powerful energy to fight that. I think we need more love in the world. We need more kindness, more compassion, more joy, more laughter. I definitely want to contribute to that.”-Ellen
