Throughout the novel what stands out the most for me in “We The Animals” is that the narrator is gay and his family can’t face the face the fact that the good kid at of all turned that way. When the family read the narrator diary they saw a different perspective on the narrator. In my opinion, that 's an invasion of privacy and should of asked permission. The narrator wrote “ I had written fantasises about the men I met at the bus station, about what I wanted me”. How the narrator felt was his fears dimmed to black and his vision blurred. What really stood out to me when manny said”there something seriously wrong with you in the head. Let talk about that”, but they never got a chance to talk about it. In my opinion Manny knew his brother was gay but thought it was inappropriate to talk to him about it because it could a sensitive thing and manny has sense of respect towards him. A man tied to a bed got rights. A man down in a dungeon got rights. A little screaming baby got right. Yeah, you got right. what you don 't got is power”(120). The father is trying interpret that yeah everybody got right but i 'm the father and your my son there is always love there but you suppose to respect him. Still the narrator has hate towards the mother because she was the one reading the journal and saw he saw the the journal on her lap. The mother wanted son to pour all his hate on her if that 's what he wants because son wouldn 't speak to her. After the wash his father helped with, his older brothers were outside shoveling snow and he wanted to help them. He came out with snowsuit but was to weak to shovel the older brother gave him a plastic bucket with crystals so he can spread it around where there was done shoveling. That show a lot of respect from the older brothers to make their youngest brother involved in what they was doing and not make him feel left
