Katy Hutchison opened to viewers with two heart felt stories during her Ted Talk. In her opening, she states lots of experiences will happen in life whether it be great or bad. She believes that when it them becomes a time in one’s life where a mess happens then there’s a moral responsibility to clean up the mess no matter the means. In the process, if cleaning the problem one may realize that they’ve been standing next to the person who created the mess. In the moment of realization, you’ll begin to feel the amount of possibility. What I gained from her message was that life has its up and down. He was a naval commander and engineer by training. She talks about how each member of the family had a desk, school supplies, but specifically scissors when she was younger. She was intrigued by the fact her father had a special pair of beard trimming scissors that were off-limits to everybody in the house. One day she was doing a project she decided to use her father special beard trimming scissor. When she was done she placed them back. The next time her father wen to use the scissors they covered with glue. Her father asked if it was her and she confessed he then showed her hoe to clean the dries glue off. Later they shared a cup of hot cocoa and they never discussed the glue scissors again. What I learned from Katy’s first story was the boundaries of respect. This relays to management because while being a manager you’ll have to respect everyone’s time, effort, ideas, feeling, space, and privacy. They were enjoying a New Year’s Eve party when she and her husband received a call from a house they are watching while the owners were away. The owners f the house son also through a New Years Eve party and her husband and a friend went to go check on him. While they were there the husband died from multiple kicks to the head which was stated in the autopsy. No information was given that night from the people who attended that party which made it difficult for police to prosecute. Five years later a young man named Ryan Aldridge was arrested for the murder of Katy's husband. When she found out she wanted answers as to why and what happened in his life for him to make the life decision for both of them. She didn’t want revenge but wanted to hug him when they first met. She worried about him while he was in jail and taught herself about the justice system regarding his case. Ryan served here three out of five years in jail and that prices Katys visited him and did a process called victim-offender mediation this took an entire day. During this time, they both found humanity and the both began to understand each other and realized they had things in common. They worked together after he got out of jail sharing each other’s story. She states the fact that Ryan is in capable of inflicting harm is what she wanted.
