There are many languages spoken in this world. They all have their advantages and disadvantages of knowing. All the languages you know and will learn to know is widening your world and expanding who you can talk too. Without the native tone you can never build on just one language.
While learning a new language is mostly positive there are some negatives to learning a new language like, going away from your native tone may also cause you to butcher the speech of another language. This is touched on in the essay I Talk Pretty by David Sedaris page 160, he is an english student going to a french school and trying to learn the native speech. He is having trouble and from day one of school he thinks the teacher has it out for him. David is having a lot of struggles trying to fit in at this new school too him just learning the french alphabet, and everyone there knowing it almost fluently. He has a hard time fitting in, it took him awhile to even learn the language and even when he did it took him awhile to feel comfortable with it. …show more content…

You could be able to talk to people who are outside your native tone. One time when I was in elementary school there was a kid. Now this kid only knew a few sentences in english (his native tone was spanish), thinking back on that moment I wish I would have learned at least a little spanish so the kid would have felt more welcome. If I would have known some spanish he would probably have felt more comfortable at the school knowing someone else knew his native tone. Knowing a new language also means that you can travel to new places in the world. Like if you know how to speak french, you can travel to Brazil and not feel like a complete
