“When we think of nonverbals we think of how we judge others, how they judge us, and what the outcomes are… we are also influenced by our nonverbals, our thoughts, and our feelings, and our physiology” (paragraph 6). Amy Cuddy is a respected women, known for her compassion and care to inspire other to better their lives. Quoting these respected professionals improve Cuddy’s credibility by showing she has reliable sources that go with her argument. She not only does she use reputable sources to appeal to ethos, she also established that she, herself, is respectable by mentioning her status, having a professional physical appearance, and having a confident tone of voice. In her speech she casual stated that she was a social scientist, who has spent a lot of time looking into the effects of body language. She was dressed very classy with her hair done nicely and spoke with a calm clear tone of voice. The very first thing she mentioned in her speech was she wanted to start by offering a “free no-tech life hack” and this showed the audience she wanted to help them. Showing the audience she wanted to help them makes her more persuasive to the audience making them feel like she 's caring and compassionate about making their lives easier. Her last way of appealing to ethos was describing experiments she personally conducted. She explains an experiment she conducted, nicknamed the Wonder Women by the media “people adopted, for two minutes, either high-power or low power poses…and then [given] an opportunity to gamble…we find that when you are in a high-power pose condition, 86% of you will gamble.
