Recommended: How to enhance personal growth in college
During my 1st year at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, it has become apparent that college is an opportunity for those with drive and passion to realize personal and professional growth. However, even more growth can be realized alongside others. Alpha Kappa Psi is the embodiment of that sentiment. It is a Fraternity of motivated and hardworking individuals who strive to be the best they can, while also helping others reach their goals. I decided to enter the pledge process because I wanted to join an organization where people of all different majors and backgrounds could utilize their skills and unique perspectives in helping others grow in ways they could not have done alone. Even before this pledge process, I was a highly motivated individual who has always strived to differentiate myself from others through showing initiative and taking steps everyday towards my career path. I have translated my previous skills and qualities into brotherhood and results over the course of the pledging process. I played a vital role in each case study team and have been on the best team for all three. Furthermore, I was voted MVP for the final case study and was nominated for the role of team leader in the final Shark Tank project. The Professional …show more content…
I wish to become a member of the marketing and/or membership committee to help spread the mission statement of Alpha Kappa Psi so that more students on campus will be motivated to come out to events and ultimately end up becoming apart of the organization. Alongside professional value, I will bring social and personal growth to the chapter. My affiliation as a board member of the American Marketing Association will play a vital role in continued cooperation between the two organizations and the bonds I have created with Actives will strengthen the unity of the
At the Dalton School, in the mission statement part of community service, it provides the moral background behind community service. When is talks about community service being vital to the healthy community, or the moral center of the community, here we find the values of caring a compassion, this is the basis of civic responsibility.
I am writing to express my strong interest in being a member of Alpha Omicron chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi. I am currently a sophomore at Syracuse University, and will be graduating in 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a minor in Global Political Economy.
Once I am a fully initiated member of the Fraternity I will attend chapter weekly. The entire pledge class bonds and learns about the Fraternity, ideals, and history together. Chi Omega also plans activities that helps us bond together as sisters, such a flag football against the other sororities, or even something as simple as ice cream out together. These activities bring us together as a discourse community very frequently. This year we had the largest pledge class in the history of the Sigma Zeta chapter at 24 girls. Every year there are two recruitment periods, one in the fall and the other in the spring. It is during these periods that the fraternity replenishes the members that went alumna with new
I believe the biggest skill that I possess that will maintain Alpha Kappa Alpha’s status is the desire to help. As a sorority that holds service at a high standard, I believe having that drive to help in
That standard of academic excellence pushes you to become a great student, “if students want to become affiliated with academic discourse communities, or even if they want to succeed in school, they have to make considerable sacrifices,” (Johns 326). Johns’ outline of success academic discourse communities is on point. Fraternities are academic communities along with social. Much sacrificed time has to be taken to be apart and contribute to fraternity, for example a leadership role. A fraternity offers many opportunities of leadership opportunities.
Women of Delta, especially the ladies of the Alpha Tau Chapter, excel excessively in everything they accomplish and partake in from what I have seen on Southern Universities campus and in the community. Their outstanding work ethics, academics success, social friendliness, dominating attitudes, and constant need to help others is just a few explanations why I would be honored to be a lovely member of ...
The purpose of this letter is to inform you about my interest in becoming a member of The Kappa Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. I sought out membership because the members exemplify the epitome of class, grace, and standards. My desire is to inspire young girls and women and make a significant impact on their lives is just one of many reasons I aspire to join your great sorority. I believe in being of service, giving back to the community, and I want to continue on for years to come. Going into the transition into my college career from my freshman year until now, I have encountered many women in the organization that are very active on campus as well as in the community. My past experiences with my past and previous organizations have proved that once my feet are planted my roots will grow and I will stand firm in an organization or committee that I am apart of exemplifying my leadership skills. I am a dedicated member of the National Council of Negro Women. I am on the Bethune Committee, we focus on creating Health programs for the organization and the community. I am a Mentor with the Valdosta community organization G.O.L.F.E.R. (Generating Opportunities in Life for Each
The mission of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated is to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, promote unity and genuine friendships among college women, aid in issues concerning girls and women in order to come up with solutions to eliminate or ease the circumstances they may face, maintain an ongoing interest in college life, while also being of service to all mankind. This sorority has not only empowered women to help others, but it
The National Honors Society is based off of four pillars: Scholarship, Leadership, Character and Service. These are all characteristics a member of the National Honor Society should exhibit. I believe that I possess all of these characteristics and should be given the chance of becoming a NHS member. This has also been a goal of mine since freshman year and would mean a lot to me to be apart of such a prestigious organization.
This essay is just a brief summary of why I desire to be an Alpha man and the contributions I will bring to Alpha Phi Alpha. As previously stated my fully expounded upon desires would greatly exceed the limits of this essay, so if I had K.I.S.S it into just three words, I would choose; learn, grow, and share. However, I am strong believer of deeds over words, so this essay will serve only as mental fodder and the main course will come in the form of my actions.
Day in and day out we hear about high school and college students wanting to pursue a sorority and/or a fraternity based on the stereotypes these organizations uphold, well I chose to differ. I told myself if I ever decided to become a member of a sorority it would be based solely on their ethical standards, history, and values they are founded upon. Alpha Kappa Alpha, Incorporated consists of ladies of distinction and exemplary character who excel in scholarship, leadership, and service, which are qualities I have chosen to uphold. From my perspective, I encourage myself to maintain a respectable appearance and reputation which doing so inspires me to embrace my self-concept; which helps me confidently excel academically and professionally as a “lady of distinction” and “exemplary character.” Most importantly, I continuously remain involved in community service, being involved allows me the opportunity to learn and understand the lives and circumstances of others by opening my mind, heart, and soul. Overall these qualities strengthen my passion to be a member of the prestigious Alp...
Some of my extracurricular activities include Science Olympiad, STEM Academy, International Club, Advanced Academics Club, and Chem Club. During high school I have participated in various community-based organizations, the two most common being Beta Club and National Honor Society. However while these clubs have allowed me to give back to my community in numerous ways, it was strangely not either of these clubs that expanded my interest in the following particular social issue. Rather it was my involvement in Science Olympiad, specifically volunteering to help run a local Elementary school tournament, that expanded my view of the STEM field.
I am interested in joining the Honors College at Purdue because it is a collection of motivated and bright students that receive significant opportunities to reach their full potential. The mission of the honors college, as stated online, is to create and foster well-rounded, well-educated global leaders. The four pillars of interdisciplinary academics, leadership development, undergraduate research, and community and global experiences establish the mission statement. I have an interest in the honors college because each pillar that holds up the mission statement contributes in a unique manner to develop individuals like myself to become the bright future of the world. Interdisciplinary academics would provide smaller class sizes that go above
I would love to serve as our chapter’s PR Chairman so that the UT community and the National Phi Mu community will become more aware of the great things our chapter has accomplished. As a public relations major, I learned many valuable skills in positive publicity, creating press releases, and interacting with the media due to my course work. Additionally, I recently completed a Media Relations internship with Metro Drug Coalition, a nonprofit in Knoxville. This experience gave me the opportunity to apply the skills I have learned in the classroom to the real world. I was constantly producing press releases, blog posts, and social media to publicize the great things happening at MDC, and I would love to continue to do this for our chapter.
I have accomplished a lot in a short period; however, my journey is not complete until I continue my education. Essentially, this degree will help foster my growth and career success. My passion and dedication will speak for itself. My hard work and determination will prevail and I am a fit more than the next applicant because I have the passion, experience, critical thinking and analytical skills needed to complete this program through successfully arguing my capstone in front of a board or committee. My goals are definitely aligned with this program and I hope my next read is an acceptance letter from the admissions council.
