Information overload can lead to many disadvantages such as it can cause our brain to become less productive, easily get tired and distracted. There are several ways a student or a researcher can do to manage information and make a better use of internet resources in order to avoid information overload.
First and foremost is to “eat the frog” which means to focus. Every student or researcher surely have a lot of tasks to do and do not know how, when and where to start first. So, first thing we need to do in the morning is to think of the most important task that we have to complete and just focus in finishing the task first without getting ourselves distracted by other things. Time is money and it does not wait for us. The students or researchers will have a lot of tasks to do. By checking e-mails, texts and so on, we will easily get stressed out and worried if there is not enough time for us to complete everything. We can set specific times for our tasks and do not go over limit. Some of us like to check for online updates and feedbacks from Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and so on every single time. This lead to procrastination and the tasks that are waiting to get completed are being left out. That is why we usually do not have enough time to complete all the tasks and we get information overload due to the procrastination in which there are too many thoughts that are going around in our mind. We need to set a specific time to check for the updates so that we do not get distracted while doing our work or task. As an example, we can set for about thirty minutes to complete the first task, ten minutes for a break, another thirty minutes to complete the second tasks and so forth. We have to manage our time so that everything will go smoothly and our brain do not get drained
