If these 5 fatal fallacies were corrected within university, students would achieve more.

Professionally trained people are not the only people that can help with problems. Ordinary people experience similar feelings as yourself. They can help each other with problems that interfere with your university study, such as personal, emotional or relationship problems. In this way you can find a way to deal with your problem and help yourself grow. One of the most simple, powerful and effective ways to deal with our ordinary problems is to talk about them to someone without judgement. First students are not suppose to be competent to judge how well they are being taught. Most teachers hand out surveys to their students to evaluate their teaching but usually nothing is done after that. The teachers never invite the class to have a discussion in person. By listening to one anothers views all kinds of better-informed views can surface. Most teachers feel threatened by that. Second students aren't suppose to be competent to judge how well they are learning. Apparently students are not able to assess themselves or others on what they have learned. However students can asses themselves and one another very competently. Students should not be the only assessors but are able to become competent assessors and they should learn and practice as part of their education. It helps improve grades, become a better learner and become more competent and professionally prepared when they finish university. This fallacy limits students abilities. Apparently students are not suppose to be competent to judge how well they are being taught. I disagree with that as I know when I'm being taught well or not. In the past I have had good and bad teachers. I know which ones were good for me and which were not. Students are also not suppose to be competent to judge how well they are learning. I believe that students are able to assess themselves well. I generally know when I am doing well or not. Students should be taught how to assess themselves competently as it …show more content…

Some believe that competitiveness challenges, motivates and brings out the best in students and the fiercer the competition, the better for learning. When competitiveness puts students against each other, creates suspicion, and divides the students into private, jealous, envious, suspicious and mistrustful individuals thats when it fails. In some classes and institutions it is encouraged to happen. When it does happen research says that the outcome is likely to decrease performances, grades and learning outcomes for many students. I do not work well with competition. I get stressed out and in the end I have worse results than if the learning environment was not competitive. I see how it makes people angry, jealous, private and turns them against each other. The learning environment is better for students when can discuss and work together instead of being against each other. I believe their are other ways to motivate students without turning them against each other. I personally like to ask classmates questions and if their is competitiveness, who is to know if they are giving you the wrong answer just so they
