As a pediatric hospitalist, there are a wide range of duties that must be completed for the safety and well-being of one’s patients. A duty amongst all physicians is caring for a patient’s illnesses. As a pediatrician, one must be involved in the physical, mental, and emotional upbringing of adolescents throughout every stage of development in good health as well as in illness. A pediatrician takes care of a child from a few weeks after birth to the age of twenty-one when the patient transfers to a new physician. The duties designated to all pediatricians is to reduce infant and child mortality rates, control diseases, make sure patients lead well-maintained lifestyles, and make easier the lives of children and adolescents with chronic conditions. Becoming a pediatrician would improve the lives of many children.
First I would like to state that any career in a medical field takes a lot of dedication and many hours studying and it is not for everyone. I would also like to say once an individual has made a career out of it the job has long hours and can be very stressful, so I suggest readers to not consider a career in medicine unless you are genuinely interested in the work, and are not in it just for the money.
Pediatricians mainly treat patients that are infants, and sometimes examine newborn babies to make sure the child is perfectly healthy and has no questionable health related issues after he or she has been delivered (Halm para. 13). Along with examining children, pediatricians treat patients with minor injuries, treatable illnesses, growth and development concerns, and many other health related issues(“Pediatrician” para. 1). Many skills are needed to complete the tasks tha...

“We look for medicine to be an orderly field of knowledge and procedure. But it is not. It is an imperfect science, an enterprise of constantly changing knowledge, uncertain information, fallible individuals, and at the same time lives on the line.” There is more to being a great physician than having intellect, clinical experience, and competence in the medical field. A doctor must be daring and genuinely driven to positively impact a patient’s life. A doctor needs stand tall, even in the face of uncertainty.

The motivation to pursue Medicine as a career is frequently presented as a few typical clichés. Some say “I’ve always known that Medicine was the career for me.” While others tout “I was often sick as a child” thus “the hospital was an integral part of my life” while others use the typical “Dr. _______ changed my life and I always wanted to be just like him/ her”. While some these things ring true of my own life experience, there were numerous, sometimes unrelated factors, that have influenced my decision and fueled my desire to pursue Medicine. However, I am particularly drawn to Internal Medicine because of its complex problem solving opportunities, emphasis on team centered care, and the never-ending learning opportunities it affords.
American medicine in the late 20th century seems considerably less romantic. Protocols and seven-minute patient visits are supposed to leave physicians tracking blood pressure readings and calibrating Prozac prescriptions. There's no time for wisdom in an HMO, or so the wiser and more ancient of current physicians lament. So it was with certain trepidation that I spent a day last December in an internist's office.
A physician is defined as a person qualified to practice medicine which I realize is a very broad definition, but it’s history is very rich. The practice of being a physician can be traced back to ancient civilizations. The first recorded physician was Hippocrates of Ancient Greek who lived two thousand and five hundred years ago, but some of his methods still affect modern practices. Later, other great civilizations followed suit in developing medical theories from diagnosis to treatments. Sadly the Middle Ages saw little to none new theories or interest in physician practices, but a renewed interest during the renaissance created many needed discoveries for vaccines, treatment, and diagnosis techniques. Human knowledge is ever increasing in todays modern world bringing major breakthroughs in areas that have plagued humans. ("Physicians.")
“Wherever the art of Medicine is loved, there is also a love of Humanity,” says Hippocrates. This love is shown through the efforts of those who work and have worked to improve the medical field for so long to better the United States. Throughout the last one-hundred years the health of the nation and the state of our hospitals in the United States has become a big concern. As the people of the United States health decreases the need for an advanced medical field grows. The medical field is already very advanced and has advanced much in the last one-hundred years. The improvement of surgeries, vaccines, treatments, and everyday medicines are the main focus of the medical industry. When looking at the United States one would see that medical improvements have certainly changed the country for the better.
The interns have to deal with surgeons above them telling them what to do and teaching them how to become better surgeons. They learn the right and wrong way to do medical procedures while dealing with no sleep and other interns stealing surgeries from them. They have some challenges while going through internship. They begin to fall in love with the wrong people. Which leads to interns cutting Lvad wires so there boyfriend can get a heart transplant and interns having sex with someone that turns out to be their boss. Then they make their way up the chain of command and become junior resident. The first process of wading out the ones who can’t handle surgery is the intern test. Once they become residence they have their own set of interns to teach while dealing with the residence above them also known as attending. In this stage they become more involved with being on their own. They begin assisting with procedures, and doing them with supervision. This is when all of the real problems begin. They are put in life of death situations where they have to preform surgeries in the highest tensed atmosphere. They have car accidents, bombs in body cavities, and most hectic a hospital shooting. This is where they

Striving to help any person in need that crosses my path is my goal in life because I love giving back to my community and interacting with new faces. I know that someday I will look back at all the things I did throughout my life and I would be glad to say I helped make a difference in the life of a family that really needed the help. My desire is to one day have a PHD as a General surgeon; this career is an important factor in today’s society because as a General surgeon a person focuses on the abdominal contents of a person’s body. Without General surgeons, many people that are in need of abdominal surgeries would most likely end up with horrible pain all their life or even worst ended up dead. A general surgeon has the potential to change not only their patient’s life, but the lives of the patient’s family. General surgeons give people of today’s world a fighting chance to not only live longer, but see life in a different view and appreciate it more. The career of a General Surgeon plays an important role in today’s society because it keeps society from falling apart with the spread of illnesses and diseases.
The seed of serving people has been instilled in me during my early teens, raised by an uncle for couple of years who was a doctor, I was able to notice how much difference he was able to make in his community. Naturally, I developed a passion for science. So I chose to complete my bachelors of medicine and science from Soochow University in China. My undergraduate education exposed me to a multitude of courses which allowed me to obtain a breadth of knowledge and skills relating to medicine but any amount of learning would be incomplete without hands on experience. The one year internship experience in first affiliated hospital of Suzhou provided a stimulating environment through rotational postings in different departments, this gave me an opportunity to interact with diverse group of patients helping me understand the influence of economic and cultural differences on health.
