Vignette # 4
I was wrapped in my blanket like a Butterfly in its cocoon. As soon as I began to have conscious thought of my crush, dancing, and my dreams turning into a reality my eyes opened as if I was facing Bruce Lee himself. Then I jumped out of my bed if I was running with gazelles in sub Saharan Africa. I smoothly landed into a crouched position on the ground I got straight into my dance battle stance with a stare determined like Eminem. I knew today would be a good day with the sun shining on me through my white curtains. As I noticed the dust from my desk float in front of me I copied its abrupt and jerky movements into the bathroom. I walked on my bathroom carpet like Tupac in a music video and fixing myself to look fresher than some new vans. My sister being her usual caveat smashed on the door shouting at me for taking a while. She is older than the hills. Rushing out and karate jump kick through my door wearing my towel I looked to the clock. “7:30” I said with a Arcane voice and took my plain white t shirt, fake faded lacoste jacket, and some khaki jeans. I looked in the mirror real quick licked my lips, made a quick rap, and did a quick bboy set. I began walking to school. I was hungry that time, I can eat a horse.
Waiting for the walk sign to turn I notice the extra kiss with couples in front of the auditorium. I walked pass the auditorium with the extra hop knowing it will be a special day. Noticing in the corner of my eye I can see the couples kissing, matching, and people exchanging roses. My eyes then viewed the spot of my home in school. All my friends I could see it was livelier today and I sonic the hedgehog walked to the spot. I dropped ...
... middle of paper ...
... mind wandered, began to do its thinking; disappointment began to sneak its way into my heart. The thoughts I felt were distasteful “I bet I looked dumb holding a rose I bought that was meant for someone.”I looked up and saw my friend Kleon laughing and leaning back being energetic with a girl. “Hey whas up Kleon” I said sounding like Eazy-E. I handed him the rose saying” You probably need this more than I do.” He smiled and said “Haha thanks man”. I crossed the street with my friends and told them, bobbing my head getting my rhythm back, “Yo guys wouldn’t it be crazy if we went to Battle of the Year or America’s best dance crew?” I practiced windmills with swinging kicks majestically as if cutting the air. My friends watched with “ooohs” in awe and also waving their arms around like gorillas glorifying the Alpha male. It's raining cats and dogs, After I walked home.
Mr. P has a history of DUI’s in his past, which thereby warranted his current arrest. He was pleasant and cooperative during his arrest and was taken into custody without incident. He then was released the next day and was given a court date. Mr. P obtained legal defense and faced the judge with fear of being incarcerated, but was confident that he had a defensible case. The judge thought otherwise, and imposed a harsh sentence of 90-day substance abuse treatment at a correctional facility. Yet, Mr. P was defensive when confronted about his alcohol use and denies that that his drinking and driving is a concern. Furthermore, he rejects this behavior as being harmful to his work environment, other than if he were incarcerated he may lose employment.
I wake up in my small bed rolling right off of it, groaning and brush my teeth dragging myself down to the kitchen, not even bothering to brush my brown mane of curly hair or change out of the blue ‘Panic! At the Disco’ jacket that I’ve been wearing for two days straight. I go downstairs to eat breakfast and my ‘loving’ father greets me by yelling at me and saying that I don’t deserve to eat anything. I sigh at my Dad’s fatherly tone and grab my black ‘My Chemical Romance’ beanie that holds down my curly brown locks. I love how my curly bangs hung over my brown eyes. I love looking over the city because it makes me feel like I’m dominating over everyone else. I walk to the city bus. Fancy… There were a lot of people on the bus. There was a smelly fat guy who kept eating
The unpolished floors and graffitied lockers with pictures of the Beatles glued to them indicated to me that no summer cleaning had been done at school, for what seemed like several years. As I walked, a neatly folded piece of paper, which I placed in my pocket earlier this morning, grazed my outer thigh was not letting me forget its purpose. My palms were sweaty and all I could think of was that on the first day of school, I had decided to tell my crush that I liked her. What a stupid decision. I decided to wash my hands and then put my plan into action. My walk across the hallway continued till I reached the guy’s bathrooms. Just as I was about to push the door, it opened and out ran a blonde and petite girl. My crush. Her face was surprised and her hazel eyes were
The sun is making its way up the horizon, but has not yet filled the sky with its cheerful rays. We exit the bus and immediately turned into statues. We stood next the flag pole staring at the school entrance. “This is going to be okay. This is going to be okay” I mumbled to myself. I wanted to enter, nonetheless, gravity glued my feet down to the cold concrete ground. My hands started sweating through my thin-knitted pink sweater and tears were about to roll off my eyes. Shortly after, I saw a shadow of a tall woman approaching us from the school’s front door. My heart beats like a drum as she carefully making her way toward us like you would when you proceed a scared puppy. She stood about four feet away from us making sure she’s not invading our comfort zone. She knelt down and shows us her school staff ID card while holding her buzzing walkie talkie on the other hand. She then ask for our names and walked us one by one to our classrooms. I remember it was so early that I had to sit in front of my class waiting for my teacher to
It was a hot summer morning. Sophie and I hopped into the van as Kevin drove us to go hiking with Arnold, Justin, and Jen. My ears were pleased as Jen started singing with her mellifluous voice even though there were a lot of mondegreen. Her ethereal, angelic appearance never ceases to amaze me. Arnold started singing along, but his voice was so horrible that the car immediately filled with cachinnation. I fell asleep during the long ride and had a dream that I was watching anime when a dove landed on my shoulder. It made me feel at peace, but I woke up from Arnold’s lamprophony. After we arrived to Castle Rock State Park, we read a map since it was our first time there. We started the hike in the hot, blazing sun. I was already sweating even
Roller-coasters gliding upside down, winding through a loop, lasting for as long as I could remember. Learning many things I’ve had many memorable and important experiences. It all started in the 20th of July. It was a saturday and was my fifth day working at the daycare. There was a field trip that day that everybody excited about. They needed an extra person to help with the field trip and I gladly volunteered to go with them. There were many great things about working at the daycare, but my favorite memory is the day I went to Valley Fair.
I only had a few friends at school, but Chief stood above everyone as the best of my friends. While I was at school everyday, I would daydream about being home with Chief and all the fun we would have. There were hardly any people at the school that I would talk to. It was a prison to me, but my sanctuary was waiting on me at home. Everyday when I arrived home from school, Chief awaited me with a wagging tail and a smile on his face. I would smile back, and if I had a tail it would have been wagging along with his. We would play for hours with anything we could find. It could’ve been an old ball or a pair of shoes; it didn’t matter to Chief. Once it turned dark and it was time for me to go to bed, my mother would yell, “Come in and go to sleep. You have school tomorrow.” Just the thought of school changed my mood entirely. I would go from a overjoyed mood, to one of sorrow. I’d give Chief a big hug and go to my bed. I would lay there praying that the two of us would be able to spend our whole lives together. As I drifted away, I would think of what Chief and I were to do the next
Ow. My head hurts. It has been lying against this wall for at least an hour now. I scratched the back of my head to move around my dark, curly hair. It was beginning to feel plastered against my scalp. It was a bit tangled from not brushing it for a day and my fingers did not run through it with ease; nevertheless, it felt good to keep the blood flowing. I was lying on a thin, light blue mat on the floor. My head was propped up against the cold wall as if it were a concrete pillow. My chin dug into my chest and I could feel the soft, warm material from my sleeveless sweater cushioning my jaw. I looked down. I could see the ends of my hair cascading over my shoulders. The red highlights matched quite nicely with my maroon sweater. My arms were folded over my belly and they appeared more pale than usual. My knees were bent, shooting upward like two cliffs. My baggy blue jeans covered the backs of my fake brown leather shoes. ("Christy, let me borrow your pants, the baggy ones with the big pockets. I can hide more stuff in those.")
The sounds of laughter echoed around the living room and the smell of sweet potatoes, dressing, chitterlings, and turnip greens filled the air. The living room walls were white and red curtains were hanging in front of the window seals. The fire place had black coal around the edges of brown brick that formed from burning short days and long nights. I could hear my little cousins’ feet hitting the brown and shiny hardwood floor as they ran to the kitchen. Their laughter echoed around the dense hallway, and those sounds reminded me that I had the longest day ahead of me. I rolled out of bed and stared at the reflection of myself and let out a deep sigh. As my feet rubbed against
When I smelled the damp air the dark clouds drifted over me in the sky. As I watched as cheerful kids played on the jungle gym and the swings at recess, I noticed the mulch was darker than usual. As I was waiting by a bench for the whistle to blow, which was the sign for everyone to come in, I heard a scream from a whistle, from the monitor. As I lined up in my class, people passed by me rushing to their line. I watched one by one as people ran inside. The wind bristled my hair as I finally could walk inside.
The third maddening buzz of my alarm woke me as I groggily slid out of bed to the shower. It was the start of another routine morning, or so I thought. I took a shower, quarreled with my sister over which clothes she should wear for that day and finished getting myself ready. All of this took a little longer than usual, not a surprise, so we were running late. We hopped into the interior of my sleek, white Thunderbird and made our way to school.
It was a beautiful night. It was perfect for a walk. As I strolled further into the park a figure approached me. It was as dark as pitch so I couldn’t make out who it was. It was late; you wouldn’t usually see anyone at this time. My heart was beating faster and faster. The strange thing was I wasn’t frightened; it was just my heart beating rapidly. As the masculine figure approached, I began to walk slower. That was when I heard the voice.
Frost, the only thing I saw out my bedroom window, kept me focused on my homework. Temperatures dropping so rapidly, it dropped twenty- five degrees in an hour. The temperatures, frigid, plumbing to negative fifteen by the time it was over. Sunday nights are for the procrastinators to do their homework, surprisingly, one is me. Suddenly cellphone vibrations filled the room, it was from one of my classmates. The picture message downloaded for a few minutes, and it stated, “If you think this girl is a w****, s***, and a b**** forward this on.” I sat there in a moment of silence, mice scurrying up and down the walls. Being a junior high student, I really didn’t put much though into it. You don’t think for your future you think for the time now. The message referred to one of my ex girlfriends, so that made me forward it on with out any thought. Making that decision shocked me for what awaited me at school the next day.
I exited the shower shivering, the sizzling smell of mouthwatering eggs and bacon hit me. My stomach was growling to eat. I quickly ran to the kitchen and grabbed a plate and told my mom “Thank you” as I kissed her on the cheek. “You’re welcome baby” she replies as she poured me a cup of freshly squeezed orange juice. I ate as fast as I could because I didn’t want to risk being late. I go in my room and put on my socks,
It was just another day of my life. The fourth ring of my alarm woke me up. As usual, I was not feeling to go in school. I slept a couple of more minutes. After while, the shine of the sun coming from the window woke me up.I slowly stretched my arms and slid out of bed. I brushed my teeth and took the shower. Downstair,my mother was calling me for breakfast.I was still undecided what should wear for school. After browsing for while I found something to wear, and finished getting myself ready for school. When I checked the clock, I was running late as usual, which was not a surprised. I quickly ate my half sandwich and left the rest of the sandwich on the table.I took my car key, jump in my black Lexus and made my way to school.During my way to school, I got a call from my friend John. John is my best friend since when we were in middle school. He told me that his car was broke down and he needed to ride to school. Fortunately, my friend house on my school way. I told my friend. I am on my way to pick you up from your house. As I got there, john come out from his house and jumped in my car. With sound of Drake singing and music blasting, it was a
