Do you think killer whales should be kept in captivity?killer whales should not be kept in captivity because they have small tanks and a little bit of space to swim. The killer whales need to be out in the wild where they can enjoy freedom. It would not be nice for killer whales to be somewhere they don’t want to be. Three main things about why killer whales should not be kept in captivity are killer whales are desperate, dangerous, not happy.
Killer whales are important because if we did not have them we would have many fish, seals, sharks, and many other sea animals. The killer whales have many food to attack in the ocean and if they don’t let them go then the popularity in the ocean will grow and the sharks will take over. Sharks and killer whales do not get along very well so as you can imagine the sharks will start eating many things and then eventually all of the fish and seals will become extinct and then the sharks will have no food to eat and will then die. We all need the killer whales to be in the ocean again to keep the cycle going. Killer whales have a part in life to play and if they are not there to participate then its really bad not to have killer whales in the animal cycle. people agreed with me that killer whales should not be kept in captivity because they don’t have enough space for them to swim in and that they just don’t like being away from their family. Some killer whales are being beaten up by other killer whales because they don’t get along very well. It is sad thinking about it and thinking about what to do to help, but then you feel guilty and think that you are the one that won’t step up and help endangered killer whales. People agree with other people that they should not have field trips to go to see shows about killer whales. It will be much better for killer whales to be freed in the wild because the killer whales will be much happier. Seeing the killer whales enjoy freedom and swimming and splashing is something really exciting to watch. If people were killer whales people might not want to be kept in captivity because they would want to be free and in the wild. No one can read your mind and tell you what you were thinking but only you can read it and look over it, you make yourself you.
Second reason why they shouldn’t be kept in a captivity. You can’t recreate on orcas natural environment. The pods sea world cannot hold 40 or more whales which are usually in a pod. If it holds 40 orcas they will make more babies and after their gonna be so much whales and the water won’t hold that much whales. Because whales are the size of bus school and is just like 40 bus
Suppose you were kidnapped from your family as a child by an alien species while your family watched in despair, crying out helplessly for your kidnappers to not rip you away from them. Now imagine then being strapped down and transported to a place unknown and once you arrive, you see that some of the other children that were also kidnapped have died. You then witness something that will forever remain engraved into your mind; you witness those monsters that took you hostage cut the children open, fill their bodies up with rocks, tie an anchor onto their feet and throw them into the ocean. The monsters then throw you into a tiny cage; you learn that you will not only never see your family again and die in that confinement but you will also work for these monsters and perform as a source of entertainment for them. You spend every night locked away into an even smaller steel cage that gives no freedom of movement at all and aren’t fed if you displease your new masters. Although this sounds like an outline for a horror movie, it is not. It is happening in real life and in our world. It is horrific, not only unethical but inhumane. This depicts the capturing process and life in captivity for public display of Orcinus Orcas, popularly known as Killer Whales since 1961. Although some laws regarding the capturing of whales have changed, whales are still being treated unethically. Just as inhumane as it is for this to be done to humans, it is equally inhumane for it to be done to animals. The most effective piece of this documentary, however, was neither the structure of the film nor the specific questions that one is forced to answer regarding the ethical treatment of these killer whales, but the overall questions of whether or not these corporations should be allowed to continue their cycle of abuse toward the animals and whether or not we, as patrons, should encourage their behavior by giving them a monetary profit every day, every month, and every year. Ignorance is forgivable, but with the knowledge given in this documentary: the final two questions raised should be able to answer themselves.
I believe that killer whales held hostage, should be retired and allowed to live freely because of the unnatural punishment and torture that Seaworld is putting them through. There has been 151 cases of aggression between Orcas and their trainers. Also 100% of male Orcas in captivity have a collapsed fin compared to the 0.01% in the wild. In fact, every single mother within captivity has had its calf taken away around age 2. This isn't going to stop without your help. How amazing is it that you can be face to face with an animal of that size? Well, I wish I'd known then what I know now. In the following paragraphs, I will start off with the difference between the life of a wild orca in the wild versus their life in captivity, and I will end with reasons as to why families should not participate and give their time and money to these companies who commit such inhumane acts. I hope that towards the end of this essay, you will change your view on wild orcas and not look at them as just an animal that is used for entertainment purposes. I believe that animals should be treated with respect, but so should people. I would perhaps have a different idea about this if the whales being hunted were nearing extinction, but the truth is, it is the whalers who are nearing extinction. Well, you know that killer whales get fed in their daily feeding schedule, but do they get fed enough to survive, or will they die of hunger? Well, you know how killer whales can get food and they do not have to get food for themselves. Well let’s just say that if a sea zoo releases a whale back into the wild and the whale is used to being fed by his feeder, so then the whale waits and waits for his food but it does not come. Animals should not be kept in captivity for any reason unless they have been harmed and need to receive treatment, but they should be released as soon as they are healthy and capable of taking care of themselves again. The use of a captive animal for research, education, or entertainment is just wrong; no creature deserves to have their life taken away for our benefit. Would you want to be captured and put in a tiny box, or a fake little ecosystem, or abused and tortured because apparently that’s the only possible way to train an animal? How about just knowing that your real life is over and now all you get to do is put on a show for people? That is what we put these animals through for our entertainment, we tear children away from their parents.

All those animals lead to out lash because of the stress of being in a small confinement habitat. Is it ethical to keep animals in captivity for research, breeding, or for our enjoyment?
