The book Leyte Gulf: Armada in the Pacific elaborate on the Naval Battle which occurred between Imperial Japanese Navy and United States Navy. In October 1944, last major battle of World War 2, which was a naval engagement between USA and Japanese empire, had taken place. In the battle of Leyte Gulf, the Japanese imperial Navy tried to destroy US Pacific fleet and defeat American invasion of Philippines. The result was the greatest naval battle in the history at Leyte Gulf. 282 war ships, 20,000 sailors and airmen fought the series of Naval engagements by night and day over a vast area of ocean, there was the all the kinds of fighting in Naval warfare from Carrier strike to full Battleship actions. Leyte was also the first battle of the war which the Japanese used suicide tactics with kamikaze airplanes.
