Propoganda in the Suffragette Movement

In 1912 the suffragette movement was just starting to strengthen and gain some momentum. Source A was a poster created at this time which was aimed to promote the idea of women’s suffrage to more women and even men. This is done by using several techniques to show there reasons for women’s suffrage. To begin with the basis behind the poster is that women can have highly respected and well paid jobs like a nurse, mother, mayor, doctor or teacher and a factory hand and yet they are not deemed responsible enough to be able to vote on who runs our country. On the other hand the poster show men in disgraceful and shameful jobs such as lunatic, convict, drunkard, proprietor of white slaves and someone who is unfit for service and yet they are allowed to vote for who runs the country just because the are a man. What this then does is it makes the person who is looking at the poster think about whether it is right for someone who is well respected for the job they do as they are clearly a clever person, isn’t allowed to vote and yet someone who is shameful can vote because the ar...
