For my co-op assignment I worked for the Clark College Foundation as a Prospect Research/Database Intern. When I first entered the foundation I was unsure of how I would fit into the organization. This would be the first time I had ever worked in an office environment and I had no idea what would be expected of me and if I would be able to perform the job that I had been hired for.
On my first day my supervisor Chris Mildner took me around the building and introduced me to all of the employees at the foundation. Each employee introduced themselves and explained to me about their particular job position. Everyone at the foundation was very friendly and made me feel very welcome at my new job. Chris then explained about the work the foundation does for Clark College and its students. By learning about each employees contributions to the organization and the goals that they were trying to accomplish helped me to better understand the significance of the work that I would be performing.
I spent the first week at the foundation becoming familiar with the Razor’s Edge database; Razor’s Edge is a database program designed for non-profit organizations. Chris had me practice looking up names of people from public documents within the database and then making sure that I found the correct name for that person. It was very important that the person that I found in the database was the exact same person that was in the document of the information that the foundation wanted to track. I learned that there could be more than just one person with the same name; more important I learned how much research can be involved in one task that originally seemed very simple. ...ion are very friendly, willing to answer any questions about a task, and are very good at helping a new person understand the whole work process, which helps someone to understand the importance of their individual tasks and makes them feel like part of a team. I will be working for this employer again next quarter and am going to be able to complete my co-op experience at the Clark College Foundation. I would definitely work for the foundation in the future as a regular employee if I were given the opportunity.
Working for the Clark College Foundation has given me valuable job experience and I now that I have a better understanding about the kind of tasks that may be required of me in the future. Someday when I do reach my goal of becoming an administrative assistant I hope to apply some of the things that I have learned from this experience to my future career.
Overall, I was grateful for this experience. I was able to find out more about the behind the scenes responsibilities of our schools’ leadership.
After meeting Laura Devine at an internship fair last fall on my campus, she made a lasting impression on me that left me inspired to be a part of this program if I received an opportunity. Laura seemed elated when explaining the program and I really appreciated the time she took to expand on her experiences with the program. It was inspiring to see someone so passionate for helping others, while also learning a great deal about the legal system, as I strive to do. I want to help others like Laura has, as this process of being a self-representing litigator, though I have not been in that position, must be incredibly daunting and exhausting. I hope that when anyone is distressed I can assist them, and it seems like this is an amazing organization for me just to do that.
I appreciate the opportunities for growth that has been given to me during my time here. I have been able to learn and obtain much needed skills and information that will be essential to the success of my profession. Most of all I appreciate the opportunity to make a difference in someone else’s life.
In the past few years I have managed to work in a various governmental and non governmental organizations. During my time at every single company and organization that worked, I met diverse group of people and each one of them had their on story and history.

After having the opportunity to interview him, I got to know that on top of what I had observed and googled, he is also extremely humble, down to earth, lives a normal life, believes in giving, on his website he has a list of charities that one can donate to. He is up to date with his knowledge. He has truly modeled excelling in what you do, giving it 110%, not doing anything in life with a half heart. He has been in this industry for over 20 years and has been pretty consistent with caring about providing information and products that are lifetime investments, not just temporary results with long term consequences. After the interview I felt that he truly lives by, “love for your brother what you love for yourself.”

I also, joined FBLA which have been a very influential program that helped me gain leadership. FBLA has allowed me to attend many business programs at different Universities, which gave me an experience of a lifetime. Today I would say that I have learned many things through FBLA and now I proud to say I am the President of the program. Towards the end of each year many students, such as myself, stayed back to assist the teachers with cleaning their classrooms. Alongside with gaining volunteer hours at school, I am a very busy person within my community. Whether my position taken in my neighborhood was to tutor younger children or participate in local clean ups, I’ve have more than enough room to exercise my leadership abilities. Still, I had more time to become a member of A.S.C.E.N.D. This program was a pre-sorority for young African American women and allowed many young ladies to participate within their community. We did things such as, creating many small gifts for the homeless by putting personal products into a book bag, fed the homeless, hosted talent shows, participated in Universities clean ups,

I had a very rewarding experience with my interview. I interviewed a lady named Jody Dawson. She is a nurse educator at Mckay Dee Hospital. I learned a lot of important information about working as a public health educator at for intermountain healthcare. She explained to me that people in this position are focused on improving employee and community health. They made a bold statement about a month ago by going sugar free. They did this to make it a more healthy and healing environment. She told me that my experience working in a hospital will improve my chances of recovering a job there.
Throughout the semester co-op has taught me many things about myself and my future. I have learned about my skills and effectiveness in the workplace; I have learned about the tasks I may be required to complete in a future workplace, and how this new information will affect my path and decisions in the future. Co-op has been a very beneficial course for me, teaching me a lot about myself.
You monthly workload report shows your work is well controlled. I am impressed with your ability to explain the policy and regulation information to the public accurately. I also started to raise my voice a little better and to let them know a I was serious, and it worked. When I told them to get in line, it wasn’t easy, but I got them in line. I also started to learn more about the big building we were in to know where all the classrooms were. After that day, I knew things were going to be rough, but I was going to be okay these six weeks. Throught the six weeks, I faced lots of challenges such as conflicts between the kids and also the kids misbehaving badly, leading me to take them to the office. There were also lots of great moments, for example when we went to field trips to Aquariums, Museums, and also to Six Flags. Six Flags was one of the funnest field trips for the kids and for me, because I haven’t been to Six Flags since I was a little kid, and because I really bonded with my kids a lot. Throughout these six weeks that I worked, I also made new friends and also gained lots of core values, like responsibility, teamwork, patience, and recognition. At the last day of the job, they gave out and award for best worker of the year and they picked me to receive that award. I can still remember Ms. Regina’s words as she said, “Emerson, you have worked really hard these six weeks, and put in a lot of effort to your job, so the Director Team would like to present you with the Youth Leader of the Year award.” That was one of the best
Before the internship, I thought judges were of course humans, but I was hoping they were nice. I thought it was going to be a bit intimidating, but I knew I looked up and aspired their profession. It was like the day I was going to meet my judge I was so nervous, yet I looked forward to it. I remember I was surprised different Judges would run their courtrooms differently. I thought they would kind of have a similar system for things, which they sort of do, but not completely. Generally speaking, the Judges are great individuals and are very unique. Most of the Judges have lived pretty interesting lives and seem to enjoy their jobs. The Judges seem to be very knowledgeable, and very considerate of the Jury, court reporters, and their clerks. The judges of course seem neutral when in front of the jury as expected. For example, Judge Lippitt, does not allow anytime to speak over each other in her court room she is always saying that they have to be respectful there is a human being recording this, referring to the court reporter. Then, she is very considerate of the Jury and their time, she will tell them the trial is longer at times to make them happy if it ends early. Further, Judge Lippitt really cares about the jury instructions and that they are as neutral as possible. Something I have learned from Judge Lippitt, is that you have to be very careful as a judge to notice when attorney’s are acting a little suspicious. Another very significant lesson I have learned from Judge Lippitt is that preparedness and awareness is really important.
This paper focuses on the personal experiences gained from the internship while supporting the functions of Human Resources (HR) at the University of Texas at El Paso. The HR department provides a variety of services to all Staff, Faculty and Student employees. Throughout the internship, knowledge and skills have been obtained in the specific area of employment and recruitment. Throughout my internship, I was well trained and did receive a fruitful experience. The real working environment prepared me for future employment after my graduation. However, I did encounter some problems, which I gradually managed to deal with. Whatever happens, productivity increases by keeping a positive attitude.
