I mean listen, we talking bout practice. Not a game, not a game, not a game. We talking bout practice. Not a game, not a, not a, not the game that I go out there and die for, and play every game like it’s my last. Not the game. We talking' bout practice, man.”- Allen Iverson on his lack of effort in practice in an interview with the press conference when they asked him about missing a practice. Do you now label him as a thug or just an arrogant asshole? It’s true many people would never give this guy another chance to try to clean up his name and would be perceived as arrogant no matter what he does after this interview. People are arrogant towards Allen Iverson because of the way he speaks in this interview. People can understand what he is trying to say, but they are being subjective to what they are hearing because he is not using correct English.
This is a strong case of Maria Lugones’ notion of the arrogant perceiver. To perceive arrogantly is to perceive that a person is just for themselves and no one else at all. If you decide in your mind that you perceive someone as arrogant you have just completely handicapped that person into showing his/her other dimensions of their personality. In some scenarios many people have chosen sides before even seeing or interacting with that person. This type of assumption is called stereotyping. I believe stereotyping a person is a mirror image of how intelligent or ignorant a person is. With that being said everyone has done it to others or has been stereotyped against. ...e considered “man’s job” but women are capable of working in both of these professional fields. It may take a long time for this to happen in the world but it is beginning to take effect as more and more women are getting in the professional fields in jobs that they may not normally work. Women are also being appreciated more by the men and they are being considered equal by receiving the same pay as a man. In the next five to ten year, I think that we will see this change in both men and women being the dominant race.
