GENDER STEROTYPING
Gender stereotyping is an act of generalizing males and females. Gender stereotypes are based on a “complex mix of beliefs, behaviors, and characteristics”, (plannedparenthood, 1). These assumptions can be true but affect our judgment in a negative way towards the opposite sex. This leads to gender stereotyping causing conflicts between males and females, because of their unrealistic expectations of each other. Which will cause problems in their development towards adulthood? These problems arise in unnecessary conflicts in relationships, how they affect a child from early age and limit development in women.

First of all, gender stereotyping causes redundant conflicts in an individual’s life. These conflicts affect your family, work even love life. For example, “Canadian youth (48 percent) think men should be responsible for earning income and providing for the family”, (becauseI’m agirl, 2). To say, men should be the financial provider, what should women do? The development of women is at jeopardy. Facts tell us that more television children watch the more likely they are to hold sexist notions about traditional male and female roles, (etfo, paragraph 2). This proves that the media is still trying to keep traditional stereotypes alive, which will maintain the differences between males and females. By viewing these stereotypes, the media is responsible for developing the stereotypical framework by, engraving these thoughts in the population brains. These stereotypes cause relationship problems; one sex tends to feel superior then the other depending on the types of stereotypes they have been exposed to.
