It’s been a month since I moved into college, life on campus have been great for me. The living community is better than what I expected at the Governors Complex. The university has the number one dining inside the SUNY College system for four consecutive years. The living community let students feel like they are at home. Besides dorm life, we have very amazing academic programs. I am very happy with my professors, most of them try to keep the lectures interesting. But like everything else, the university have imperfections, the university stampedes are what I think is the flaw of the school. I know that the university stampede is a public transportation. Many student strictly follows the bus schedule and expect the bus would be around when they arrive on time. But the bus driver sometimes leaves before schedules, student end up missing the bus they supposed to take and be late to their class. Another issue is there are not enough bus stops at the North Campus, the school only built bus stops at resident halls, and the only exception is student union. There is no bus stop for the academic buildings, such as Natural Science Complex or Capen Hall. This is the very inconvenience for the students who live on the Ellicott. The students who live on Ellicott either have to walk for 15 minutes to get to student union or they will have to wait for the bus. Most students get off the bus at the Student Union and then they will have to walk to their academic building through the tunnels. The student would have to leave the dorm about thirty minutes before class just to get to class on time. This takes away the whole purpose of doing or the convenience of doing. Many students dorm in a resident hall just to be near the academic buildings so they don’t have to wake up that early since college life is very stressful due to school
First negative externality on campus is scheduling of bus because it never comes on time. Students have to wait for bus in hot weather or they even can come late because of it.
First this Tardy Policy deprived us students , we try are best to come to school on time but there's going to be days where we won't be on time due to problems. As a Millikan student I take the city bus at 6:46 everyday and it's hard and stressful, the bus can take long to get to school due to traffic. Also when my parents drive me there's always traffic , I always see students getting dropped off in the middle of the street just to try to make it on time. That can be really dangerous and It can cause a accident. Students should not have to be rushed to try to make it in time just cause they don't want
The start if college is like the end of one’s childhood. Yet I had no intension of letting that go when I woke up yesterday at 7:00 am. Still, like high school, my mom dropped me off and picked me up; copping almost the exact same routine from the four years I spent in high school. Just as I thought this ought to be the easiest way of transportation, my mom proved me wrong once we reached the University of Washington’s parking lot.
Since my freshmen year of high school, I have met peers who rely on public transportation to get to school every day since the school bus system did not serve their neighborhood. They were students who were eager to come to school everyday, relying on MTS to transport them to school on time every day. Similarly, my mother relies on MTS to get her to work on time every morning and home every afternoon. Both students and adults alike have had little to no problems with the transportation system; when there were problems, MTS was able to adjust their schedules or routes to serve the community. A friend who just recently began to rely on public transportation to transport her to school has told me the interesting experiences she has encountered during the time she has used the public transportat...

The number of complaints relating to Cal State Fullerton’s parking is out of control. Considering the prices CSU Fullerton charges to park at their school, students should be guaranteed a parking space. Students are currently outraged regarding the Cal State Fullerton’s parking conditions. Some students even decide to not attend the school based on the pricing and availability of parking. A school losing an immense number of students only because of the parking situation is insane. Cal State Fullerton should reduce the pricing towards parking for reasons of availability, cost, and profit.
As individuals we oftentimes perceive objects, situations, and circumstances based on our outside view. We never look deeper into the matter; instead we are blinded by our initial perception and create a false reality in our minds. We are only capable of finding reality if we liberate our stubborn grasp on initial judgements. “Dwelling Place” by P.K. Page suggests that when individuals acquire an insider’s perspective on specific situations they are capable of perceiving a genuine reality and abolishing the illusion that was created through false initial perceptions. However, those that analyze situations from the outside will be constrained by these initial perceptions, and will develop an illusion that is far from the truth.

Housing problems should be solved as soon as possible. To do that, the colleges have to consider how to solve costs and small dormitory problems. There are specific examples regarding cost aspects about apartments being too costly, which are located near Seattle Central. If we walk 20 minutes on Madison Street, there is an apartment called Summit at Madison Park. For a one bedroom apartment it costs around $1450.00 a month. Near our school though, a one bedroom apartment costs around $1700.00 per month. This example shows that there is a significant difference in terms of cost. However most universities and colleges in United States have similar troubles with solving expensive housing cost problems near each school, but schools need to start providing clear solutions.
Parking by the dormitories is almost impossible. Students who live at particular dorms find themselves faced with the problem of having to park on the other side of campus. Those who live in Brown Hall, which is behind the Thompson center, have the most parking problems on campus. This is because the Thompson center is a very large building housing various departments on campus. Therefore it receives a lot of traffic all day. Visitors to the campus are taking over the parking lots around the Thompson center, which is forcing students to park other places on campus and some students chose to disregard the signs posted for reserved parking.
The two neighborhoods that I chose to use for this assignment are vastly different. The main reason is because they are on opposite sides of the country. The first neighborhood that I visited is the one that I grew up in. This neighborhood is in Connecticut, on the East Coast, all the way across the country from the neighborhood that I currently live in here in West Hollywood. Most of my family lives in Connecticut and Massachusetts and I’m the only one who lives on the West Coast. A big difference is that the neighborhood in Connecticut has houses that are more spaced out, have larger lawns, and very many more trees. There are very few apartments there, unlike where I live now where my entire street is almost all apartment buildings.
The world is home to many different types of communities. Each type is made of different people from various walks of life. A very popular type of community is an urban community. Generally the word urban is associated with large cities composed of vast transport systems, skyscrapers and heavy commerce that offers man different career opportunities. A key feature of urban environments is the diverse communities that it creates. This is brought about due to the dense population that large cities accumulate. Urban living is a lifestyle that starts from birth. Many people raised in an urban environment tend to spend their entire life there.
Time management is one of the most crucial factors to college success for every student in college. Firstly, while living on campus, time usually isn’t an issue to students because they live on school grounds. There are many advantages that come with time and one of them is getting to class on time. However, this is actually the opposite for commuters because getting to class on time is quite a struggle. They have to struggle to wake up earlier than usual in order to use the public transportation. Students living on campus also have more access to on-site facilities because they don’t have to worry about going home so there is no time limit on how long they occupy these areas. An example is staying in the library because this is where you can get help from tutors on subjects you are struggling with. Also, they can use the writing center for as long as it is open without worrying about time. In contrast, commuters are limited to the use of these facilities because they have to take time into consideration while staying at the library or work...
Everyone has their own perception of an ideal community. For each person the factors of an ideal community will vary depending on their upbringing. My understanding of a community is a place where a group of people live, and socialize. Everyone is caring, thoughtful, and respectful. In my community people take care of each other they think before they act, and are respectful to one another keeping in mind equality.
It is hard to find parking on campus, especially during rush hours. Both students and professors are encountering trouble for this crisis. As a simple example, the parking lot next to the Sarkeys building is always full. This problem is a continuous, daily hazard. As a student required to maintain a lot of class schedules and activities, I suffer from the parking problem daily and find that others encounter the same. It is true that the university is working on a new parking garage, but during the construction process, there is no alternative way to settle the crisis.
