At a tender age of 22, I was consulting with global product owners to understand the business proposition out of every product. I realized the best way to learn about the business was by solving complex business issues. That was when I decided to move to consulting and started working on some of the most complex business engagements for global clients, and in tern started learning corporate business more closely. I enjoyed the experience, diversity, team environment, and the success achieved through my career in consulting. After gaining depth of knowledge in functions such as finance and systems, I moved to take up a corporate position to manage these functions, and reached up to the roles of corporate director. My strategy for future growth is – putting knowledge and experience to work. I will continue to work within my current position for next two years and gain deeper business experience. Throughout this course my paradigms of what a nonprofit organization have been challenged as we have considered the major aspects and leadership challenges of these organizations. Having worked with for profit and nonprofit organizations in the past I was quite confident that I had a clear understanding of the distinctions between the two. I had worked in organizations that regularly used volunteers to accomplish their mission and felt that the management of these processes were simplistic. Despite these misconceptions, I found that I was able to learn a tremendous amount through our reading, peer interactions, group projects and equally important, my volunteer service as part of this course.
I aspire to become a leader in my family and community inspiring those around me to maximize life to its fullest potential. To use my God given gifts and talents to apply the principles necessary, to make a significant difference in the lives of others. To live a balanced life challenging myself intellectually as well as allowing time for my mind to rest and do things I enjoy. To look at life through a child’s eyes, not being distressed about the past or worrying about the future. All the while dancing like nobody’s watching.
Over this course of this semester, I have learned a tremendous amount of information about myself from the self-exploration series. The results of my PGI (Personal Globe Inventory) presented me with a couple of different career paths to explore. The first type of career that was brought up to my attention was an enterprising career. There were a number of enterprising careers, but the one that interested me the most was business management. I decided to choose the business management because I am majoring in Sustainability and my focus is in Economics. I think business management would be an excellent fit for myself because I have actually done some research prior to this class about management. I would like to someday own an ice rink, and I think that becoming a manager would be a great stepping-stone towards reaching my goal. The requirements for becoming a business manager vary from university to university, but the overall direction of the major revo...

This is where I can make my best contribution. In short, I want to be where the action and the challenges are.
