On February 12, 1809, in a log cabin with a dirt floor, a baby was born. This was no ordinary baby, it was one of the most important men in American history. His name was Abraham Lincoln. He was not the only important person in American history however. Theodore Roosevelt and George Washington were also important to history. Theodore Roosevelt, George Washington, and Abraham Lincoln all positively impacted America in many ways.
Theodore Roosevelt was a very important man in American history. Believe it or not, he did many things before being elected president. He was part of many organizations and helped society. Theodore Roosevelt was a part of the Civil Service Commission, which is a federal government agency that protects civil service laws and makes sure people get fair treatment. He also was the police commissioner of New York City and the assistant secretary of the Navy. He became very attached to the Navy while working with it. Theodore Roosevelt was the leader of the Rough Riders, which were the first volunteer cavalry in the Spanish American war (“Teddy Roosevelt: The Rough Rider in the White House”). This was a big deal because The Rough Riders helped America win the Spanish American war. They fought at battles such as the battle of San Juan Hill and Las Quasimas (“Rough Riders”). Theodore Roosevelt was also a cowboy, Vice president, police commissioner of New York, and governor of New York (“Teddy Roosevelt Rough”). Not only did Teddy Roosevelt impact America in a positive way before becoming president, but also a lot while president.

The Emancipation Proclamation freed all slaves in the Confederate States, which led to the 13th amendment of the Constitution. It gave all people equal rights (“Elizabeth Raum”). Without this, slaves still may be present in America and people may not have the same rights they do now.
Without Theodore Roosevelt, George Washington, and Abraham Lincoln, life would be different. Theodore Roosevelt made the Navy more powerful. George Washington earned America their independence from England. “Honest Abe” Lincoln freed all slaves and encouraged people to treat each other equally. If these imperative men had not existed, America, for sure, would not be what it is now.
The Rough Riders were tough and was his first volunteer Calvary. They were sent to fight in Cuba. Roosevelt was very bold and became an extremely popular figure. The Rough Riders charge up Kettle Hill made Theodore the biggest national hero in the Spanish-American War. Theodore’s strong mindset and actions influenced the people around him and helped them, The Rough Riders, win the Spanish-American War.
Theodore Roosevelt was one of the most influential people in the early 20th century. His leadership style, his reforms, and his personality shaped an America that was rapidly becoming a world power. Theodore Roosevelt is admirably remembered for his energetic persona, his range of interests and achievements, his leadership of the Progressive Movement, his model of masculinity and his “cowboy” image (). He was a leader of the Republican Party and founder of the short-lived Progressive Party of 1912 (). Before becoming President, he held offices at the municipal, state, and federal level of government (). Roosevelt’s achievements as a naturalist, explorer, hunter, author, and soldier are as much a part of his fame as any office he held as a politician. His legacy lives on as one of greatest leaders in American history.
Abraham Lincoln became the United States' 16th President in 1861, delivering the Emancipation Proclamation that declared forever free those slaves within the Confederacy in 1863. If there is a part of the United States history that best characterizes it, it is the interminable fight for the Civil Rights. This he stated most movingly in dedicating the military cemetery at Gettysburg: "that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain--that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom--and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth. The Declaration of Independence states “All men are created equal”. Even when the Amendment abolished slavery in 1865, and the black people embraced education, built their own churches, reunited with their broken families and worked very hard in the sharecropping system, nothing was enough for the Reconstruction to succeed.
Lincoln became president in January of 1860. During this time, many of the Southern states began to secede, plunging the United States into a Civil War. At the beginning, the war was about state’s rights, but it eventually became about slave rights. In the end, the Union won, America was reunited, and the slaves were freed. Many say that Lincoln was the Great Emancipator because of this act, but did you know he didn’t want the freed slaves to have the same rights as whites? From the time he was involved in the political realm to the day he was assassinated Lincoln was just another politician. If he was really the Great Emancipator he would have been more focused on the slaves than the Union. He also wouldn’t have issued the Emancipation
Throughout history, United-States citizens have elected several presidents, and each one of them are worth knowing for an event or an act in particular. There is an infinite amount of lessons that can be learned from other people’s mistakes, victories, and defeats. Theodore Roosevelt is one of the elected presidents, and he is worth knowing because he helped establish the Children's Aid Society, he facilitated the construction of the Panama Canal and he averted a national emergency by dealing with the 1902 coal strike. Roosevelt's had a profound impact on our society.
In conclusion Andrew Jackson and Theodore Roosevelt were full of similarities and differences. What was seen though was more similarities than differences. They were both great men and a great part in our American History. They made this country great, marked their names in history books, and have helped influence it into the place it is today.

Before Theodore came to be president, the position of presidency was slow and wasn’t very interesting so he made the executive branch more powerful by starting new reforms and a strong foreign policy. The life of a president is hard. It is full of stress, responsibilities, and a strong dedication the welfare of your country. Theodore had to deal with all of these presidential stresses, taking up much of his time. Do you know, though, that despite being a president, he led a life of excitement and freedom that many other presidents had never before experienced? Theodore, “Teddy” as his first wife Alice called him, Roosevelt was more than just our president, he was a dedicated author who wrote many books; he was also a rancher, and, surprisingly, he was a big time hunter. Even though Theodore Roosevelt was a president, his life was filled with exciting adventure, times of hardships, responsibilities to many, and influences upon many government positions.

Abraham Lincoln is known as the President who helped to free the slaves, lead the Union to victory over the confederates in the American Civil War, preserve the union of the United States and modernize the economy. The Emancipation Proclamation, issued through Presidential constitutional authority on January 1st, 1863, declared that all slaves in the ten remaining slave states were to be liberated and remain liberated. The Emancipation Proclamation freed between three and four million slaves, however, since it was a Presidential constitutional authority and not though congress, the Emancipation Proclamation failed to free slaves in Border States like Delaware, Maryland, Kentucky and Missouri. Theodore Roosevelt stepped into head of office on September 19, 1901 when President William McKinley was assassinated. He was the youngest man to become president. His motto was “speak softly but carry a big stick.” President Roosevelt would come into power offering America the square deal. He would take the power away from the industrialists as he controlled big business from the White House. He would soon become known as a TrustBuster. Abraham Lincoln is regarded by many Americans as the greatest president to ever hold office in the history of the United States, and his reputation is definitely well deserved. Lincoln wasn't scared to stand up and fight for what he knew was right. He was convinced that within the branches of government, the presidency alone was empowered not only to uphold the Constitution, but also to protect, and defend it. Lincoln was able to lead our country and preserve the Union, keeping the United States from splintering during the devastating times of the Civil War. As President, he built the Republican Party into a strong national organization, and he rallied most of the northern Democrats to the Union cause. On January 1, 1863, he issued the Emancipation Proclamation that changed the war into a battle for freedom and declared forever free those slaves within the Confederacy. That November, Lincoln gave his famous Gettysburg Address, which stated how a country must be dedicated to human freedom in order to survive. He dedicated the battlefield to the soldiers who had perished, and called on the living to finish the task the dead soldiers had begun. (Donald, 1995) Lincoln believed that democracy could be a lasting form of government. He showed a nobility of character that had worldwide appeal, and he was a man of great integrity. However, it is important to remember that Lincoln also led a private life, complete with close friends and family.
