INTRODUCTION Portfolios serve the purpose of an extensive record of a student’s best work and skills. As the student progresses through life, record keeping and reflection becomes an expectation. A résumé cannot possibly describe the entire list of qualities each individual possesses. As a result, portfolios thrive in high schools and offices alike to demonstrate a person’s capabilities in the greatest detail. Any person with a future-oriented mindset should have a portfolio to create opportunities for a successful life. The résumé I completed in the beginning of the semester had minimal need for correction. It did not have much room for grammatical error. The résumé lists my experiences and abilities I have acquired, therefore disallowing a margin for being verbs. This one assignment belonged to the small group of documents that did not require revision. Everyone should recognize that there exists room for reflection where errors do not present themselves. In the college interest letter to the University of Southern California, errors did not present themselves openly. I had to cor...

Portfolios have long been used in some professions to showcase professional work and skill. In education, portfolios have also been used for assessment, including self-assessment (Lankes 1995; Pond et al. 1998). Both career portfolios and career passports reflect this dual focus—students assess themselves in the process of developing a product, and the resulting product showcases and documents their experiences and skills. A distinction is sometimes drawn between a portfolio as developmental and a passport as summative (Bridging the Gap 1993). With portfolios, more emphasis is put on the developmental process of self-assessment, planning, and goal-setting; with passports, more emphasis is put on the final product that sums up the results of the process and communicates them to others.
I am writing this email to appeal me being put on academic probation. I believe that there was a factor of my education that the academic board has missed, and I wish to clarify what exactly it was.
Within the portfolio, all of the projects that I will be working on will work towards one goal for my SCE, which is to develop my technical skills in a professional environment. This portfolio will contain the big projects like: HTML documentation, Installations, and MADCAP Files. These projects are some of the many examples that my mentor and me have decided to do throughout this SCE program. Artifacts and evidence will be provided using video instructional guides on how we created some of the products. Screen shots will be taken of major scripts written by me. It will basically contain everything that is needed for an electronic portfolio, which also includes the hour’s logs and journal entries. Additionally, the portfolio will be organized in a chronological way shows the progress that I have made throughout the internship. As a matter a fact, it will show the training process that I had to go through in order to create the prototypes that I will create. The veracity of prototypes will be determined by the future outcomes of testing the
As a low-income student in high school, I used my application fee waivers, to apply to four Cal State Universities and four University of California schools. I did not apply to any private universities, for the simple fact that I lacked guidance and information about the schools as well as the probability that I would be accepted to such schools. When I was denied from my top choice (the University of California, Los Angeles), I decided to attend the best school I was accepted to—the University of California, Santa Barbara. In the following section, I will discuss the individual, societal and cultural influences in my college choice process that led to my decision to attend UCSB.
My Second Assignment that I want to share with you is DNA, which is how is it build. My teacher Mr.Moreno asked us to go to the Gizmos website to get the information necessary to complete the assignment. In addition to reading the material, there were assessment questions that I had to answer. The expectation was for us to learn how DNA could replicate from the enzyme. The point of this assignment was to see how how DNA makes a copy of itself and how it allows living things to grow and reproduce. All I had to do to receive an “A” was to follow the instructions given by Mr.Moreno, Which were to answer all questions and submit them on time.

I feel there were steps the university could and should have taken before sending that initial email that began the nightmare. For starters, my final transcripts were sent to their campus, simply the wrong address on campus. One would think if, say, the financial aid office received an envelope marked for admissions they would forward it to the correct office. This was obviously not the case, even though it is the obvious action.
I am confident and enthusiastic about my proposed interest areas and I believe I have the necessary skills and competence to become an asset to Stanford University. With my ability to self-learn, persevere and work hard, I am sure that I can face the university’s highly challenging environment. I am aware that to excel in the program, I would have to meet the high standards set by the university. I am confident that I can foster a symbiotic relationship with the university and its students. With this, I humbly ask for the golden opportunity to be admitted to Stanford University.
Not accepted. Declined. The ultimate decisions that will decide my future in college have arrived; and as I shuffle through them, I recognize a repeating pattern. The bittersweet words conceal the sensitive messages that aim to end childhood dreams. We regret to inform you that we do not see a place for you in our excelling community. The decision has been made; Have I simply failed at showing my personality? Where do I go now? I sit in my chair pondering these thoughts as I type this story and I see myself smiling. These letters would not stop my goals and aspirations from becoming a reality; I would let these denial letters ignite my determination, but rather, I would let obstacles give me a reason to work more diligently. If I was rejected from every college I applied to, I would find a job that allowed me to express and achieve my goals and aspirations, I would aggressively pursue an education later in my lifetime, and I would refocus my life to not include college.
They panic because they realize they must make a decision that will affect the rest of their lives. Visual art majors have no need to panic because they have been waiting for this time for their entire lives. This is now the time they get to shine, and get to do what they have dreamed about. Although visual art majors still have stress concerning deadlines for college applications, they have planned for application season ever since they have picked up their creative utensils. With the portfolio these creative seniors get to rest easy knowing that they have worked years perfecting their trade and now they get to share their talents with the world. The portfolio no doubt is an essential part of receiving acceptance into prestigious art programs around the globe and if put together correctly will without a doubt result in a sparkling acceptance
I wanted to continue my career abroad. Therefore, I made a detailed research and ended up going to the United States because of its worldwide reputation in academics. My initial research showed me that Southern part of United States would be most education friendly due to social, climate and financial reasons. Besides, a field like Public Administration requires one to be involved in a more diverse environment as it is any government’s job to provide service to its citizens from diverse background. Grambling State University, with its diverse environment and friendly atmosphere was the most suitable one. Due to this reason, after completing the English as Second Language Program of ELS center in Ruston, I applied to Grambling State University. At the beginning I was required to take some undergraduate level classes to improve my knowledge and skills. I have successfully completed fifteen cou...

Short and long-term financial freedom and stability is something an individual wants to have through to the end of his or her life. Financially planning for one’s retirement years is vital so a person does not sustain major unhappiness or unnecessary pain in what is supposed to be the reward for working so hard in their younger years.
