How to Save a Life
I remember when I was 11 years old and my dog, Happy, was sick with cancer. Since the moment we rescued Happy he was the sweetest, most energetic pet I had ever seen. He remained this way over the many years that we had him, hence, his name. I remember the day we decided it was time to let go. We took Happy to the veterinarian clinic and were taken into a little room. All four of us, my brother, my parents, and I, huddled around Happy as he was lying on the counter. The veterinarian gave us some time to spend with him alone and say our goodbyes. When she returned she asked if we were ready and gave him an injection that would take him away from this world forever. Happy was euthanized due to his illness. As terribly awful as this experience was, it was for the best. He had lived a long, healthy life and it was finally his time to go. "Every year, millions of cats and dogs are euthanized in our nation’s animal shelters because there are more pets than there are responsible homes for," says the American Humane Association ("Pet Overpopulation"). To give you some actual numbers, according to The Humane Soc...

Ross’ whole life he grew up in a household where they did what was expected of them, rather than what was right. The type of people that Findley place in Robert’s life is what molds him into the type of character he becomes. Timothy Findley manipulates what a hero is supposed to be, by making Robert Ross a distorted kind of hero. Robert Ross exemplifies anti-heroism throughout the text because of his need to be a savior but inability to do so, his morals and his connection with animals. Robert Ross
stop animal testing. By animal testing, the companies not only violate the animals' rights (which is breaking the law), but their testing methods are hazardous which endanger the animal's life. friendship that animals can and are willing to give is extremely enriching and can bring so much joy into our lives as well as the whole world; having your dog come give you kisses when you are sad or having your cat lay by your side when you are sick; these actions show just how much they are aware of us and care for us. People can take in a pet that they are comfortable in taking care of, and one they would be able to afford taking care of. It wouldn’t be fair to the animal or owner if the owner picked
Watership Down to demonstrate them. While both of these novels show animals behaving in different manners, they are both uncharacteristic of normal animal behaviour. Charlotte’s Web shows animals behaviour as primarily human while Watership Down demonstrates animals behaving mostly as animals. This said, we see that both these novels show their characters with human traits, however they are all confined to their physical limitations as animals. A perfect example of this is Charlotte, from Charlotte’s Web
