The convergence of different forms of technological inventions has transformed the world specially starting from year 2000 & ever growing. There are numerous benefits attached to this noticeable convergence. By evaluating the effect of technology in the society, it is clear that technology today has become man’s habitat in the modern world, in the office, in the malls, on the street & even in domestic places you barely see people communicating with each other at the airport waiting seats but busy checking little gadget devices. Major missions including even the very simple ones are done by machines. However, the odds attached to the convergence of technology depict ethical concerns. The consequences have been overwhelming on the life of humanity (Raab, 2006). The problems have become universal. The main objective of these forms of technology relates to the improvement of human performance in the implementation of tasks. Various areas of convergence include Nanotechnology (the influence of substance on an atomic or molecular proportion), Biotechnology (including genetic engineering), Information Technology and Cognitive Science (Stair & Reynolds, 2010). The ethical results these concepts have in the society are tremendous and worth observing.
The technological convergences are characterized with relatively high costs of operations. This means that accessing the services in areas such as Nanotechnology has become a preserve of the wealthy. This introduces class struggles mirroring the Marxist theories. The class struggles occasion ethical concerns. The have notes cannot afford the technology costs and hence have to make do without (Weckert, 2009). Moreover, the threat imposed on human beings by the production of deadly weapons is ...

.... The class struggles occasioned have substantial effects on the social interactions at least between the two groups. In fact, lately most crimes have changed from the typical forms into electronic based. Either one is employing the technology to rob others or taking away the technological gadgets themselves. It is critical that all persons be carried along in the developing technology. In as much as these technologies are aimed at saving lives and improving human performance in life, it widens the gap between the rich and the poor. This is ethically wrong. For example, Nanotechnology increases the life expectancy of rich individuals at the expense of those who are financially challenged. In general, the control of these aspects of technology should be put within the hands of dependable bodies which will ensure that ethics and social prospects are well addressed.
This story observes human relations with technology and warns us of the potential consequences of allowing technology to supplement our self-sufficiency. Varshavsky shows us that we will become indistinguishable from technology, that this technology will eventually demand equality, and that this technology will steal our self-sufficiency while also becoming self-reliant. There are hints at Varshavsky’s imagined human-technology relations in current day. Society’s requirement of computers to function in the economy as laborers and consumers is one example. Another instance of society’s reliance on technology is the use of cameras and security systems to ensure safety. Another different type of technology humans rely on is pesticide to grow food for consumption. None of these examples point to technology as a negative aspect of society. On the contrary, technology has allowed human societies to expand and flourish. However, the most poignant example of Varshavsky’s envisioned human-technology relationship is human reliance on the cellphone. To name a few benefits, cellphones allow people to remember things they would otherwise forget, share their ideas with each other, and communicate with people they would normally have trouble maintaining a relationship. Cellphones are becoming a vital part of consumer culture and human existence. Without them society will digress back to a slower social, cultural, and economic existence. Human reliance on cellphones could be the first steps toward Ilya Varshavsky’s “Perpetual Motion” becoming
Technology is supposed to be seen as such an advancement and great accomplishment. What others may not always know is sometimes it isn’t all fun and games, it can be dangerous. As seen when we created the atomic bomb and guns, their only purpose is to destroy and cause pain to others. Although they are not always in use, they are a constant threat to our well being. We need to take into consideration the positives and the negatives of the technology we create today.
Throughout our history as a western civilization, we have made technologic advances and innovations that have furthered ourselves as a society and benefited us greatly by improving the quality of life. However, with these advantages there are also the disadvantages; these advances have also integrated injustice and inequality into our society. Through the writings of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Adam Smith, and Karl Marx, it can be shown how our western society has spiraled into a system of inequality amongst its communities.
Technology is such an important part of today’s society. Most people can not operate there daily lives without such devices as there cell phone or I pad. There is a demand for these products. People will stake out for days for the latest technological products. Their concern is for the availability of the product rather than the circumstances surrounding its production. Does any one ever consider how these products are made or who makes them? One may believe that their favorite product is made by a machine but closer inquisition will prove this wrong. Products such as those made by Apple are hand made. The workers are subject to harsh working conditions. In this essay I will discuss the conditions Apple workers are subject too.
Again, the author reviews the (non-fictional) history of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, how the use of machines in production raised "the living standards of the average human being very greatly". It was "clear to all thinking people that the need for human drudgery, and therefore to a great extent for human inequality, had disappeared...hunger, overwork, dirt, illiteracy and disease could be eliminated within a few generations". However, since the Party wants to maintain a hierarchical society with itself on top, this real possibility of eliminating poverty and inequality is a deadly threat rather than something to be desired: "If leisure and security were enjoyed by all alike, the great mass of human beings who are normally stupefied by poverty would learn to think for themselves" eventually sweeping away the oligarchy ruling them. "In the long run, a hierarchical society was only possible on a basis of poverty and ignorance."
In today's world, technology is constantly changing from a new paperclip to an improvement in hospital machinery. Technology lets people improve the way they live so that they can preserve their own personal energy and focus on the really important factors in life. Some people focus their energy on making new innovations to improve transportation and the health of people that may save lives and some people focus on making new designs of packaging CDS. Technology is significant in everyone's life because it rapidly changes what is in the market. But, some new innovations of technology are ridiculous because they serve no purpose in helping mankind.
The invention of the microchip ushered in the information age and the cyber revolution in the same way that the invention of the steam engine ushered in the industrial revolution and the invention of the plow ushered in the agricultural revolution. Just as the growth of the industrial revolution was accompanied by the expansion of colonialism, so has the information age been accompanied by the growth of the global economy. This has impacted class relations in several profound
According to the article “is scientific progress inevitable?” can understand that advances in technology are in the order of nature and advances in technology are regular. This article may be expanded many ideas about the progress and development of technology. Technology must be progress, but the progress of scientific discovery may not be able to promote social development in a short time. Although the power source of social development is the advancement of technology, but technology discovery just a part of system and it is an integral part, but only "essential" conditions, rather than "full" condition. Anyway, the article has made the readers to
Albert Einstein once said, “It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity.” Technology is a controversial topic, some say we are depending in excess from gadgets and devices. However, if it wasn’t for technology we wouldn’t be able to experience many benefits.
The evolution of technology has changed society in both positive and negative ways. People all over the world use and benefit from modern technology. Technology has simplified the access to many tools people need in education, medicine, communication, transportation, etc. However, using it too often has its drawbacks as well. In most cases, the time of finishing projects is cut by more than half with the help of technology. Many people do not realize that technology has its negative affects society as well, and its rapid advances has changed life for worse in a number of different ways.
Strategic planning implies establishing in advance what an individual or organization wants to achieve within a specified timeframe and deriving ways on how to achieve that. A strategic plan is basically a course of action that is used to attain desired results. It means anticipating the future and having measures on how to grow into the future. Technology is a macroeconomic factor that is rapidly growing and changing. Technology has had positive effects all over across the globe to business organization and to individuals.
Today there are many technological advancement to enhance our daily activities, whether it be as simple as an Ipod for entertainment purposes or as vital as an artificial heart for the survival of a human live, science and technology is the reason for its existence.
According to the scientist Adam Antonidas innovation is the key encroachment towards a bright future. He believes that through constant innovation the world wouldn’t be suffering from serious political issues such as poverty. Technology has great potential to provide social benefits and should not be regarded as a “distraction”.
Technology is one of the groundbreaking inventions humans have come up with. Technology nowadays is so broad there are thousands upon thousands of companies out there with their only intention is to make better technology. Back when it first came out they thought it was going to evolve extremely fast and flying cars would be out in 30 years and such. It’s not evolving at an extraordinary rate, but it’s still evolving at an extremely fast rate.
In the 21st century, we live in the era of technology-driven world. Humans never stopped the development of technology, because we always have a natural tendency to pursue a higher level of human being. Technology is the best evidence of human intelligence, which has shown that we are different from other animals. We have lived with technology since we were born. Although it has intervened heavily in our daily lives that we can’t no longer live without, nobody can deny the achievements it has brought to us.
