Heaven locked in the islands : Andaman and Nicobar

The beautiful archipelago of Andaman and Nicobar islands leaves you mesmerized with the sound of the sea waves crashing at the shore. If one wishes to cherish the beauty of the islands and beaches then why go abroad when you can trace this group of islands sprinkled at the east of Indian Ocean. A cluster of 572 unexplored islands out of which only 26 are inhibited and some of which are for the local tribes. The glistening blue and green stretch in the Bay of Bengal gives a peaceful respite from the hustle-bustle of our life, captivating the charm of the nature. The island which was once used for imprisoning the Indian Freedom Fighters and was referred to as 'Kala Paani' is now a major tourist attraction. The island obtains its name from the Sanskrit name of Indian-Monkey and so this land is supposed to be the land of Lord Hanuman.
How to reach?
Once can get here through Calcutta or Chennai and then take a flight to the capital, Port Blair. As one lands onto the islands, they can experience freshness and saltiness in the air. The hospitality of the city is wonderful along with the clean and green environment. The climate is humid and tropical. The best time to visit being from November to April.
The Tourist Attractions:
The Cellular Jail which depicts the heart-wrenching story of the brutal treatment meted out to the Indian Freedom Fighters by the colonial rulers before independence is a must see spot. Originally consisting of seven wings out of which now only three remain. The heavy iron gates and the dark confinements reminds us of the cruelty and the isolation the patriots suffered for many years. ...e to Havelock is the Elephanta beach where elephants are trained for swimming. It is a slim beach but the landscape is divinely beautiful and the sand is very fine. Water sports is popular here but it remains an untouched beauty by the tourists.
On the way to Havelock, there is Neil island with lush green trees and transparent blue sea water. Tourists also prefer an overnight stay here with sun bathing and enjoying the tranquility of the beach to their heart's content.
Havelock is also close to the Long Island Beach offering a fantastic sandy beach with a refreshing environment.
The Nicobar islands require a special permit to visit as they are inhabited by the indigenous tribes. Andaman Islands is one of the most favored family destinations with its beauty of an Aphrodite and vastness of the nature. The lovely experience will surely make you want to visit it again
