Genocide in Darfur

In recent times, the media has highlighted the genocide that has been occurring in Darfur, Sudan. Darfur, Sudan is a country roughly the size of the state of Texas (Darfur Scores, n.d.). Genocide is the systematic killing of an entire ethnic group of people from a national, ethnic, or religious group, or an attempt to do away with them all (Darfur Scores, n.d.). Beginning around 2003, according to Darfur Scores (n.d.), “the Sudanese government in Khartoum and the government-sponsored Janjaweed militia have used rape, displacement, organized starvation, threats against aid workers and mass murder. Violence, disease, and displacement continue to kill thousands of innocent Darfurians every month.”

Genocide, begins when the target group of dehumanized, the beginning of non- Arab black African. Dehumanization occurred long before Great Britain colonizes Sudan. During the Sudanese slave trade, slavery for hard labor was almost classified to black Africans.” In the black communities men were named mukluk and female as mistress.

Approximately four years have culminated into the death of four to five million Africans. Genocide is often considered products of military conflict. However, genocide is the destruction of a group’s ability to produced itself; to provide resources to the nourishment of its children and young adults and to protect itself from both the brutality of law enforcement authorities one may argue that the color blind racism, exceed.

According to Darfur Scores (n.d.) “The genocide in Darfur has claimed 400,000 lives and displaced over 2,500,000 people. More than one hundred people continue to die each day; five thousand die every month.” In Sudan, civilians have continued to die because of both purposeful and ran...
