The female reproductive system consists of many different parts such as the female cell called the ovum or eggs. The ovum is the reproductive cell in females that can become a zygote after fertilization.(freedictionary.com) Located in the ovary, the ovum is layered to protect the nucleus. The vitelline membrane is the plasma membrane it controls what come in and out of the cell. A protein based layer called the zona pellucida helps protect the egg.(educational-portal.com) The function is to carry a set of chromosomes from the female and starts fertilization by the sperm. A problem with the ovum is a blighted ovum. That is the failure to develop early embryotic death.
The vagina is a muscular flexible tissue that is the sex organ and also known as the birth canal. Problems such as vaginitis which is caused from an yeast infection or bacterial overgrowth.(webmd.com) Also sexually transmitted diseases such as gonorrhea or chlamydia are infectious diseases passed through intercourse. It has layer that are divided intop four parts known as the anterior, posterior, and the right lateral and left lateral. It connects of the uterus to the opening outside. The vagina extends from the cervix to the vulva.(webmd.com) The hymen is a thin layer of tissue the covers the external vaginal opening. The vagina is a path for the period blood or tissue to leave. Another function is for sexual activity and childbirth.(webmd.com)
The labia is a structure of the female parts. Estrogen is a hormone that is produce form the ovaries.(webmd.com) This mainly occurs during the menstrual cycle and can later release and egg. It function can be for fetal development and can help with the immune system. Hormone imbalance can occur.(webmd.com) This means an increased amount to estrogen and not enough progesterone. This can be caused by overuse in cosmetics or stress.(Wikipedia) Progesterone is a hormone produces from the ovaries during ovulation. It helps with preparation of the uterus for receiving an egg for fertilization. The menstrual cycle will occur if the egg is not fertilized and progesterone levels decrease. High levels of progesterone occurs during pregnancy. (webmd.com)
