The Externalities of Education

The K-12 public school system of the U.S. must be nurtured, diversified and promoted to a higher academic standard. The term “public education” means education that is publicly financed through various tax programs and those personnel in charge are accountable to public authorities and designated places of education must be accessible to all students with attendance mandatory unless specified through legal documentation. The term "public education" covers every type of public school from kindergarten through the 12th grade to include traditional, charter, magnet, vocational and various alternative schools.

With the majority of students living in the U.S. attending public schools, the quality of the entire public education system not only affects each individual student’s ability to continue towards a secondary level of education if choosing to do so but also be positioned to get a good job utilizing the primary public education provided. The quality of public education from a much bigger perspective also shapes the nation’s ability to compete in a global economy. As many of the developing nations over the past 25 -30 years understand extremely well, quality investment in the public education system is one of the surest means to improving a nation’s economic standing and further growth.

Children must have an excellent beginning to their educational life and home learning as the starting point is the most valuable part. While conquering many obstacles along the way, public education is essential for children to become quality citizens that grow into someone who brings abundant good occupation into a society. ...y support, or communities strained by poverty and social dysfunction. Children from more privileged families would suffer also from being isolated from other segments of American society. The nation would lose the one institution that routinely brings together children from different walks of life (Kober 2007).
