I want to go into the field of ministry, as a youth pastor. To excel in this career I would lead weekly meetings for the youth in my church, plan missions trips, organize fun teen outings, and lead outreach activities in the community. These weekly meetings would consist of, in my opinion; games, food, fellowship and discipleship. The biggest task of these being discipleship, preparing a lesson for each group out of the bible. This task would probably take me one day to prepare a solid lesson for each day that can, and would relate to the kids and their needs as either middle schoolers or high schoolers. My ideal plan would be to have a day where I meet with middle schoolers and a day where I meet with high schoolers, as their needs are different. …show more content…

The responsibilities of a youth pastor, are some of the same of a counselor; teens come to you with their problems and expect healthy advice and guidance. With that comes hard decisions, like telling their parents or proper authorities to get them the help they need. Whereas this might hurt the student in the beginning your responsibility as a youth pastor is to watch out for, and keep the teen safe. The work environment is very people orientated, meeting with the senior pastors, the secretaries, the finance managers, parents of the teens, and church every week; you will be with people a lot. Thus leaving my option open to where I want to live. I think Arizona, Kansas, Georgia, and Minnesota would all be enjoyable places to live. The median housing for Arizona is $268,797, in Georgia it is $229,000, in Minnesota it is $247,900, in Nebraska it is $196,950, and in Kansas it is $169,000. Due to the salary of a youth pastor my best option would be to live in Kansas where the median housing is the cheapest right now, I would like to live in a medium size town where they have a church of around 1,000 weekly
