Did you know it only takes one spawn of an invasive plant species to take over the whole plant.(Invasive plant).1 this paper will talk about the controversial issue known as invasive plant species , the cause of it and ways normal everyday people like you and I can prevent this environmental issue known as invasive plant species. One of the very many of the species is the Russian Olive, the Russian olive originated from Eurasia. It was introduced to the central and western us by the early 1900’s. These plants are taking over everywhere, for instance here in southern Illinois we have an invasive plant species known as the Russian olive. The Russian olive is a plant that crowds out all native species surrounding it. Ways we an effect it would be to find the the plant and cut it out before it can spread even more, one any way of removing the roots or killing the roots would be exterminating the plant's presence. Other ways of removal would be to burn the ground it is on, to do this you must first make sure the ground is dry enough to burn and also make sure you have a water source around you in case if accidental. These plants are capable and have more than enough potential to wipe out an entire regular native species of plant (invasive plants). The reason behind this is because one small offspring can rapidly reproduce causing it to do the damage. The people who are doing this are the ones who will plant them or plant other greeneries near the non-native plant species. The invasive plant species are very rapid in growing. Some of the birds, winds, storm, and environment user help contribute spreading the invading species around or close enough to execute the other plants. Although sometimes the birds and so on can help get rid of the specific Invasive plant species have contributed to the decline of 42% f United States endangered and threatened species, and for 18% of United States endangered or threatened species, invasive are the main cause of their decline. Some other impacts are Invasive species compete directly with native species for moisture, sunlight, nutrients, and space. Overall plant diversity can be decreased, establishment and spread of invasive species can degrade wildlife habitat,results in poor quality agricultural lands, degraded water quality, increased soil erosion, and decreased recreation opportunities.
