As society is changing all the time. Youth culture is changing with this. Sexual health and relationships are important when working with young women and how much this can impact on their experiences. By reading all the different material about young women and how much their sexual health and relationships are changing, it seems most of these young people are modelling their lives their way, sometimes based on what they see on TV reality shows or because they give in to their immediate needs and feelings, either way its choices they make. People are exposed to so much now that many things seem normal, things that would have been viewed as deviant are now common practice and this has caused a shift in people’s attitudes and cultures. When working with young women who is questioning their sexual orientation it can be difficult, as they may feel that their friends and society will not accept them for who they are. This can have a huge impact on their mental health, there was a case study done that looked into the mental health issues in the LGBT community. There was a case study done with Meyer (2010) they were talking about how some people at a young age their sexual orientation can be bisexual as this is the stage of confusion, they said that this has no impact on gender or minority group. This can decrease the social well-being and also their self-esteem. Though no differences in social or psychological well-being were found by gender, female gender was related with miserable mood. For example in my local youth centre I feel that sometimes testing values and beliefs is challenging, especially when working with different groups of young women. This happened particularly around conversations for example some of the conversations I had with the young women were about sexual health, the pros and cons of it. It is important when having conversations with young women that I wasn’t dominating the conversations I let the young people talk and I listened to what they had to say. Young people like to hear people’s opinions especially when that person won’t judge them. During this conversation my values were tested a lot as the issues that these young people were facing.
