Working With and Managing People Working with others may sometimes be a struggle, but I have managed to work with the people around me pretty well. I always try to keep a positive attitude when working alongside others and I also try to get along with everybody. Problems can often occur with fellow workers or with production, but I always keep myself calm in order to fully understand the situation and to figure out ways to resolve the problem. I have had some experience managing people in the past, but I have never held the title of manager or supervisor. In past jobs, I only supervised other workers in the absence of the managers. I believe everyone is created equal and should be treated equal. In no case should acts of discriminations be permitted. Any sort of discrimination that occurs in the workplace may create a hostile work environment for the workers and thus should not be tolerated. I always attempt to never judge anyone by their race, religion or other differences that they may have. I believe forming a prejudiced opinion about a person is unfair. Although it is not possible to restrict prejudice thoughts, outspoken acts of discrimination should not only be banned from workplaces, but should be made sure that they do not occur. If acts of discrimination do occur, it should be dealt with properly and not just ignored. I attempt to not say or do anything that would be considered discriminatory to others. I always greet new people with a positive and friendly attitude. I always try to have peaceful and respectful relationships with my coworkers. Since interactions between employer and associates are always occurring, it is important to acquire and maintain a respectful and pleasant relationship. Also, strong employer and associate relations may lead to an increase in productivity. A poor relationship may affect production or the company in a negative way. I have always tried to maintain a positive relationship with my past and present employers so that the work environment I experience is friendly and productive. It is also important to keep a pleasant relationship so that both the employer and associate can easily come to an understanding in certain situations that may require it. Imagine you were born with something that distinguished you from others. Maybe you have a birthmark on your face, or maybe you were born albino. You could have a case of heterochromia or just have a gigantic nose. Whatever it is, it distinguishes you from other members of society, and there’s nothing you can do to change it. Is it fair then, for you to not get the same opportunities or privileges that another, more “normal” person could have?
Working as a manager can be challenging. As a manager, you are dealing with a variety of situations and each one requires a unique solution. As a Working Out of Class Supervisor, one challenge that I faced was being in the position of managing my peers. I had to earn their respect and trust to be their supervisor.
I work well in group situations. I always try to encourage all members to participate and contribute. It is interesting to note that in most situations, I tend to be one of the group leaders. I do have a strong personality. Yet I try not to come across as controlling or bossy.
I would initially approach the task slowly and carefully. I would carefully read the brief for the task, underlining or highlighting the important parts of the brief that concern the jobs and roles performed by Mrs. Pane. I would also try to gather information about the tasks and roles she performed. The brief describes how Mrs. Pane performed the jobs of a Receptionist/Telephonist and also that of a personal assistant. After gathering information on these jobs I would then try to break down each different aspect of the job i.e. Receptionist- fluent in typing. After I have broke down each job aspect I could then start to write the person specification element of the assignment. To write the person specification properly I would have to decide what the aspects of the job were desirable and what aspects were essential to the job.
How would you feel to be discriminated against due to who you are. Like your gender, age, religion, background, ethnicity. Ect. I feel like it’s unfair to treat someone different than others. We are all human. So why would you treat someone like they’re less than someone else?
Discrimination is known to exist in all workplaces, sometimes it is too subtle to notice, and other times it is exceedingly obvious. It is known that everyone subconsciously discriminates, dependant on their own beliefs and environments that surround them. However, discrimination can be either positive or negative in their results, and sometimes discrimination is a necessary part of life.
How do you feel about working in a team environment? What role do you think you take on in a group situation? I enjoy being on a team when everyone is working towards a common goal. I see greater benefits and rewards from cooperating with others. Most of our lives, we will work with other people; I like to embrace the opportunities to work in a group setting.

Being different is everyday life for all of us. Being excluded from certain things. Being looked upon as different due to one’s personal mind set and beliefs sets someone apart. A lot of people notice a phenomenon where one does not treat others fairly if they appear to be “different” from them. This occurs most commonly because of the similarity-attraction phenomenon. What this means is that people are more attracted to others who look similar to themselves. It is not that one is intentionally discriminating against one who is not “of the same kind” rather, they happen to get along and feel more comfortable around someone who they feel they can relate to.
Today's business world is a very delicate model and can break down with the slightest of ease. One of the most important aspects of a successful business is a good, strong management team followed by a good, intertwining associate team. The two groups serve, as different operational structures yet need to coincide on a very strict level. For a business's employees to be at arms with each other can create a big problem that happens to be at the prime area of business. This area is the area of direct customer interaction. To not keep the customer happy is to douse oneself with gasoline and proceed to striking a match. This problem brings us back to the introduction of trust and professionalism among workers.
The relationship between employer and employees plays a pivotal role in the performance of the organization. Employers and employees have certain responsibilities towards each other which facilitate a fair and productive workplace. Positive work relationships create a cooperative climate with effort towards the same goals. Conflict, on the other hand, is likely to divert attention away from organizational performance.
Whether we acknowledge it or not, I think that we all, to some extent, subconsciously judge others by what they look like, where they come from, or how they act. I believe that any kind of discrimination is morally wrong, and I am not trying to justify it by any means. However, I think there is a part of each of us that clouds our judgment and makes things like race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation impact our overall perception of how we see others. Trust: employers must create an environment of trust doing what they say they will do, being consistent, maintaining confidences, being a role model of behavior, encouraging employee involvement, allowing people to make decisions that affect their work, allowing people to make mistakes without fear or ridicule and to learn from mistakes, explaining reasons for major decisions and acting on employees suggestions.
