Working Parents vs. Staying At Home Parents:
When having a child it can be very difficult on the parent. Parents strive to help keep there children in a safe situation. There are two types of parents whether it’s a stay at home parent or a working parent.
In 1967 almost half of the women 49% with a family were stay at home moms with the exception their husbands working. Today since 1999 women have been doing work other from their homes which is outside of their homes. The number of stay at home mothers have dropped and is at 29% while working parents are at 71% ( DUNCAN). Being a stay at home is very tough just like it would be to be a working mom. Some positive benefits of a working parent. A working parent often has a good influence on their child. They are also more able to provide for their child as well. Working parents show their child that they can accomplish anything that the child desires. It teaches the child to become responsible from how the child looks up to the parent. Working parents spend quality time with their children, which makes up for the amount of time they have not had (Working). The child is able to do more from the income that the parents create by working. Which can go along way with school, activities, and other interests (Working). On the other hand there are negatives about parents working. For instance poor day care services and social development. They might not be enthusiastic to hear their kids’ issues after a hectic day at work. Kids in such cases could resort to finding an outlet elsewhere or simply feel that their parents are not interested in their lives (Working). By going to work the parent does cherish their child but they also realize that not everything in life resolves around the child (Moms). Having a job helps the parent stay more connected with the larger world. On the other hand for the child, they will not understand the need for an extra paycheck.
