One girl and her dog are whisked away by a tornado to a magical world. L. Frank Baum wrote The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and published it in the year 1900. The novel tells the exciting story of a girl named dorothy who was swept up in a tornado with her dog Toto taken from Kansas to Oz. She wakes up to find that her house has crushed the Wicked Witch of the East and freed the munchkin people, but all Dorothy wants to do is get back home to her Aunt and Uncle. The first is the way she stands up against the Wicked Witch of the West. Dorothy decides to throw a bucket of water on her because the witch took one of her shoes. If I had been in the same situation I most likely would have just let the witch bully me or gave her the other shoe instead of retaliating. The second difference I noticed while I was reading the book is that when Oz says that he is not a real wizard Dorothy acts very nice about it her only reaction is to scold him. Whereas if I had found out that the Oz was fake I would have gotten very angry with him and possibly tried to hurt him for lying and putting my life in danger by sending me to defeat the Wicked Witch of the West because he was too scared. Another difference between Dorothy and I is that she is often naive. Normally I am very skeptical of new people and new places. When Dorothy first arrives in Munchkinland and they send her on her way to the Emerald City and Dorothy never questions that the people might be sending her the wrong way. I would have asked more questions than her and try to find out what was happening. She also easily assumes that Oz will be willing and able to help her. Instead of trying to think of solutions herself to go back home she puts all her trust into Oz getting her back
