Winston Churchill was a great leader of the 20th century. One impressive thing about Churchill is he helped britain stand against the Germans and Hitler, even we they were the last country left fighting. Winston Churchill was also famous for his motivating speeches and quotes. He was an official historical book writer. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1953.
In this quote, I believe Winston Churchill was expressing his opinion on democracy, which was him saying democracy isn’t the best form of government. As I looked deeper in depth of the quote, Winston was explaining out of all the forms of governments, Democracy was the worst that was tried from time to time. He never stated or expressed his personal opinion of that quote. Churchill knew that democratic government can’t make everyone happy, and can be subverted/corrupted, thus the “Democracy is the worst form of government”. But he also knew that it keeps everyone peaceful and prevents extreme levels of oppression, hence the “except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time”. …show more content…

Along with Democracy there are 3 branches: Direct democracy, where people vote directly, then you have Indirect Democracy where they select representatives to make their decisions. Dictatorship is also a form of government. Dictatorship is a harsh government, this government is reigned by an extremely powerful authority. Dictatorship also has a few extra branches. One of those branches is the Oligarchy, where ruled by the military. Totalitarianism is also linked to Dictatorship, it is a form of government where no one have any freedom, the only one that can make a decision is the government.
